This a great selection of punk & new wave tracks from the late 70's. I suggest the other reviewer actually looks at the track listing before purchasing, and leaving a negative review - it sometimes helps - doh !!

Look....Theres New Wave and er Punk on this cdDead Kennedys are awsome but they are Punk (probably the best anerican punk band ever) and California Uber Alles is a punk tune where someone like The Stranglers also being Punk toned down having a New Wave sound alot of the time rather than Punk.I think record companies need to do their homework when doing these compilations before jumping the bandwagon for these kind of cd compilations.....but alot of record companies are doing this im afraid to say....But saying that there are great songs on here and some are not New Wave im afraid.But The Dead Kennedys sticks out like a sore thumb they are Punk not New Wave and the song doesnt even have a New Wave sound to it either....

This product is not the sort of thing I am into, I have discovered: I do not care for Punk and related music; I thought that New Wave was similar to New Age and Synth, but on discovery (listening to this product) I found it is not: it is like Punk; I like some of the songs, but not all of them.

Firstly the gripe - This CD has an absolutely awful title, HOW on earth can these people/groups possibly be classed as 'heroes'? No doubt those in our armed forces could enlighten us? That said and given the sheer volume to choose from this is a pretty good selection with songs that should appeal to most. As for me it was purchased for the edited version of Blondie's 'Atomic', Psychedelic Furs 'Pretty In Pink', Bow Wow Wow 'Go Wild', Patti Smith 'Because The Night' and last but not least Japan 'Quiet Life'. This budget price collection was worth the small change for those alone.
