Extra Large but not heavy duty.
The plastic isn’t very thick, I’m hoping the cat litter doesn’t bow the sides. I think the opening could be a couple inches smaller. I have a large 9 lb cat and it’s a very large entrance. I like that the top has a couple different sized holes to allow any litter on the paws to fall back into the box. I’ve just cleaned it and put litter in it, the cat so far isn’t quite sure of it.

Finally a tall litter box for extra tall cats
My cat is super tall, almost as tall as this box. He had a difficult time with other top entry boxes due to his height. The design and dimensions make it easier for him to do his business without discomfort. The quality isn’t terrible either. The lid does have a habit of falling off despite the hooks, and the scoop hook is a great little addition for keeping the litter box space tidy. I have a second box and both my cats prefer to use this one because it’s much deeper and taller. More convenient and comfortable for them. It’s not a heavy box, easy to maneuver and clean. Would recommend to anyone with tall cats.

Exactly what I was hoping for.
My nearly year old cat had developed the habit of urinating right on the very edge of her previous litter box, resulting in urine running down the outside of the box too often. I barely had finished the installation of this box before she jumped in and made it hers! So much for the concern that she may have difficulty adapting to the new box! Couldn't be more satisfied with this purchase.

Great for Our Young Cat, But Not Ideal for the Elderly One
This top-entry cat litter box has been working well for our younger, more agile cat. The setup was super easy, and the grates on the top really help minimize litter tracking—though it doesn’t completely eliminate it. Unfortunately, it hasn’t worked as well for our elderly cat. She seems to have a little trouble climbing back out, so we keep a front-entry box nearby for her. Overall, it’s a great option for younger cats or those with no mobility issues.

Cats ignored their other box the MOMENT this one arrived. Buying a 2nd, it arrives tomorrow!
I’ve got a two cat/two litterbox home. One upstairs, one downstairs.Prior to getting this one, both locations were getting used equally.Suddenly no one wants to use the old one. They like this one so much it’s getting ALL the action lolThe guys have been through several different styles of box, I’ve been experimenting. Prior to encountering this tall, deep Petmate model, they used both locations equally, no matter which shape or style of box was there. This one’s a game changer.Obviously I had to order another. These’ll be the last litter boxes I will ever have to buy. Finally an adequate replacement for the all-time best litterbox ever, the old “Clevercat" model that’s no longer made. I gave mine away during a no-pet period, thinking I could always get another, but those are no more.Hinging lid looks nice, but its fit is a little sloppy (it wiggles a bit). The guys don’t seem to mind though. They like it fine with the lid and without the lid.

A winner
We have a 2 cat household. I've had the cat genie automatic cleaning one (a piece broke and it flooded my downstairs and the company repaired the damage and I believe now uses a metal fitting in lieu of the plastic one that broke on my unit). My cats were never super in love with it and they would always prefer to use a standard box instead. I've got the Nature's miracle automatic cleaning cat box currently which honestly is NOT worth the extra mess it tends to make. I've stopped using the automatic cleaning function completely and just scoop it like a regular cat box because litter always gets out around the collection container and my cats must pee more than other cats and they like to pee in the same corner of the box which means that after the first scoop or two, all the waste is piled up on one side in the collection container which prevents it from closing and so the odor can get pretty bad if I don't empty it multiple times a day. In need of a second litter box for the laundry room as one of my feline overlords has decided to occasionally guard the upstairs box, I purchased this praying that they would not be physically able to make the same kind of litter projectile mess that they manage with the other box. my prayers were answered. I saw previous reviews about the handles making it difficult to clean and can happily confirm that this no longer is an issue as those handles are gone now. It has a handy hook for holding the scooper right there on the outside of the box. I use a small hand boom to brush any litter that has collected on the lid and not fallen back down in the holes toward the holes before I open it to scoop it. And I literally am only having to sweep the laundry room once a week, that's how little litter is escaping this thing. When I got it, I immediately filled it up with high quality clumping litter and I introduced each cat to it individually by plopping them right inside it so they would know what it was. Then I put the lid on and walked away. To my delight, the next morning there was no puddle on the laundry room floor where my more timid cat had started resorting to urinating on when the jerk cat was guarding the upstairs box and there were three clumps of waste in the box. The cats still seem to prefer the upstairs box as that one always has more waste in it each day when I scoop it but I'm seriously considering purchasing a second one to replace that monstrosity of a box box that has the janky auto-scooping function that I stopped using. Even though that open box upstairs has pretty high sides, I have to sweep that bathroom daily and we still end up with some litter in the hall outside the bathroom that gets tracked out on kitty paws. Seriously, my cats can defy laws of physics with their litter-throwing shenanigans. The only reason I haven't already replaced it is that they still do seem to prefer the open top box upstairs since they clearly use that one first every day. So, if you're still reading.... Don't spend your money on super expensive self-cleaning boxes that your cats may not even want to use (sorry cat genie, i wanted to love you) or that make tons of noise and only do a so-so job of scooping the waste (sorry Nature's Miracle autoscooping box, I wanted to love you too). This is the box. It takes me less time to scoop this manually than it takes to clean up the mess the auto cleaning box makes trying to do it's thing and the amount of litter that hits the floor out of this box is miniscule. I only wish the manufacturer would make a ramp that attached to the outside of it for those with older cats that don't jump as well.
