I loved the hilarious antics of all in Amour-sur-Belle!I would have given it 5 stars but whoever did the proof-reading needs new specs (maybe they were wearing Monsieur Baudin's!) because many words that should have been spelled with 'cl' - like closed, closing, clipped - were printed as 'dosing', 'dosed', 'dipped' !! Well - it all added to the quirkiness!

This is a fabulous, well observed book which is incredibly evocative of the area while not resorting to caricature. If you like Louis de Bernieres, you'll love this. The pace is a bit slow, but the characters are well captured and there's lots of wit throughout.

Very funny and well written - another of those lovely stories that says so much about French culture.

This is an eccentric an funny but romantic story not to be read if you are hungry or on a diet.

a good read

I wasn't sure I was going to like it from the description, however as it was a book club read I had to give it a go. I just found it delightful, easy to read. Each character was fleshed out beautifully. A charming story.

Bought this after reading Balthazar Jones and look forward to reading the next book by this author. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
