- Electra Townie Bicycle Saddle (Black with Lycra Insert)

I've ridden a bike since I was 14. I have a little ADO Air folding bike that is great but kind of stiff when hitting bumps. I remembered the Electra Townie bike seat I had when I owned a Townie and installed one on the folding bike. What a difference, even from the good women's saddle I'd installed. The Townie seat is still the most comfortable seat I've ever had. Just rode it back and forth 20 miles to work today. So comfortable! And it's very water resistant! It does not have a cutout section in the middle, though. I don't need one, but some riders do. Also, the Cygolite under-the-seat taillight holder can be screwed onto the spring in the back of the saddle (instead of onto the saddle rails -- wasn't enough room) and is holding on just fine. If it's a problem, the clip on the back of the Cygolite Hotshot Pro taillight can be used to force the taillight onto the spring. I did that with my husband's Townie, and it worked just fine.

This was a true Electra seat and not a low end copy. The cushion is notably better and the product is well made.

I find traditional road bike seats to be pure torture. Unfortunately I must have fairly wide sit bones as I cannot sit on a road seat for more than a minute or two without it just being horribly painful. I still have to stand up occasionally with this seat, but, I can get through a half hour session on my BikeErg now and that was utterly impossible with the seat it came with. This was the third bike seat I tried and the best of them. The only thing I will say is that it's not particularly padded. It has a comfortable shape, but, if you also want padding you may want to get an additional seat cover for it. I would try it without first, but, the shape is good if you find those narrower seats painful.

this is my third one, and it is made differently than the others. less cushion, etc. they must have changed suppliers, not even close to the original electra.

I love this seat! Installed on my mountain bike last week. It made a HUGE difference in my ride. I had injured my back and could no longer tolerate leaning forward. Added this seat and raised the handlebars and I could ride again without pain! Even more surprising, my butt didn’t hurt the next day. This bike seat has both a rail mount or seat post option. Super easy to install.
