Keeps it from Turning Green
My tank was green. I couldn't stop it. It's only a 3 gallon tank, no heater. I put this in with the hope it would kill off the algae. It didn't eliminate it after a week, so I cleaned the tank. Going on almost two weeks now and the algae hasn't returned. I have it in the filter housing and it runs 3 hours a day on a timer. Overall, I believe it's working well. First four photos were prior to cleaning and use of UV light for about a week. The last three photos shows what it looks like after a cleaning and using the device for two weeks. I am hopeful it will maintain this level of clarity.

Works as advertised.
The first thing I noticed is that this product is larger than expected - about 4x1x1 inches. This kept it from fitting into some of my more desired areas. My tank is just a few gallons in size and after finding a half-suitable spot out of exposure to fish, I turned it on. The water quality was such that I couldn’t see beyond 2-3” due to green suspended algae. This cleared up everything in about 4 days. I’m impressed and feel there is good value in this product. If it were about half the size, it would have been more in line with my expectations, but it worked. Definitely would recommend.

This little UV light really gets the job done!
These little UV lights are a really game changer for me. I use them in all of my tanks. They keep algae at bay and help all of my aquariums to maintain crystal clear water. Plus, you can’t beat the price! The oldest ones were purchased 3 years ago and they are still functioning without an issue, so I definitely think they’ve been engineered well. UV light is just like staring into the sun… it’s not good for you to look directly at it for very long, which also holds true for your aquatic critters. When using a UV light, you want water to freely pass around it, so that it can help rid your tank of damaging free-floating organisms (such as algae, bacteria, and parasites) by damaging their dna, so they can’t reproduce. Placement is key, because it needs to avoid being seen AND you don’t want to kill beneficial bacteria in your filter. So, how do I utilize these little lights? I pop them straight into my HOB (hang on back) filters. I also tend to use AquaClear filters, but this trick will work in any HOB filter… which hides them from sight (mine and my fish!). I’ve added a photo of how I place them in my filters. I place them behind the inlet/inflow pipe. This way water flows around the UV light first, then it passes through the filtration media, which houses the majority of the tank’s beneficial bacteria. As you can tell from my photo, it fits nicely and it’s really simple to use… just plug it in and turn it on! There’s an on/off switch on the cord. But there’s really no down side to leaving it on 24/7, which is what I do. And as I said previously… I have some that are still going strong after 3 years. Look at the pictures that I’ve posted… if you’re looking for clarity in your water and you want to reduce potentially harmful pathogens… then just buy one of these right now! I recommend them to anyone who asks how to get rid of algae. They are so worth it!

Not effective.
Used this for 8 hours/day for 4 days. Green water got greener each day. The included test strip says it's working. I can see the blue light when it's on. The enclosed specification says it operates at 220V. USA uses 120V. That means this 3W bulb only outputs 1.5W; making it useless.

Light goes in filter not directly in tank
This light definitely did the job. It took about 5 days to get the water clear from a never ending bloom . I had to buy a new filter in order for the light to fin in it. Make sure you read the directions. Do not put this product directly in tank. It will kill your fish.

Not bad but need material
It does work. It took about a week or two for my 40 gallon tank to clear up. You will need a filter or some type of tube that will allow water flow but also allow no fish through. Which is hard if your like me and your fish had babies so they’re tiny as can be… anyway, if you have a good filter already this will fit in, it’s not a bad idea. Cheap. And it does work as advertised but also as people said, it’ll kill your fish if you expose them to this light. Follow the directions and you’ll be fine. I wish the light was smaller tbh it’s kinda awkwardly fat I had to buy a 5 gallon filter just for it to sit in and not kill my fish

It works!
It’s affordable and works! Keep it away from the fish so they don’t die, put it in the water filter that sits outside of the tank.
