Does the job very well and it has blue lights!!
Come on what man doesn't love a device with blue lights?? Sorry on a more serious note this is a very good little USB hub and card reader. It's very quick at reading my high speed SD cards (SanDisk Extreme III's) have had a usb webcam, memory stick and smart phone connected all at the same time with no trouble. It feels robust and very well made and given its made by PNY you know its a good brand. Worked with no problems at all straight out of the box. For this sort of money you cannot go wrong... oh, did I mention it also has blue lights??

Fantastic little device
I'm using this product to transfer photos taken on my camera (sd card) to my phone (apple) for quick access and posting to social media sites, and it's absolutely perfect. The box contains the actual device, a micro sd card adapter, a charging cable (you will need to plug it into a usb slot, so either a computer or a usb adapter plug - this is NOT included) a bag which fits everything in, and instructions [I have photographed all of these] The writing of the instructions is quite small, but the set up is easy enough. You have to charge it up first, then turn it on by holding the power button for 3 seconds. The battery and wifi lights should turn on & when they've stopped flashing they're ready. Then connect your device (I'm using my phone) to the wifi (the name of it and the password are written on the bottom of the product, these can both be changed in settings). Now put your sd card/usb stick in and open the files and view/save them. I haven't tried putting photos onto sd card or usb from my phone yet, or transferring any files other than photos. The only downside of this product is the app, which is in need of being updated. It's a little tricky to navigate, but once you know which buttons mean what, its fine. I would definitely recommend this product, especially to those who want to save/post photos on the go (like me!)

Pny Reader - Good for money - Wish for more though
Have been using for a few months now. Does what it says on the tin and works great for me. Just a couple of things to note: * As I read on a previous review, you sometimes have to be careful iserting memory cards due to the alignment of the inside pins to the casing. Manage fine and seems okay with the SD cards I use. I tend to use Micro SD cards with a Micro SD > SD converter as it's easier to push them in & align and also I tend to use in camera with SD slots. * This does not support hot-plugging memory cards. This means you can't leave it plugged in when you insert a memory card. I wish it did support, as it would mean (with an extension lead, see below) I would be able to leave it on my desk plugged in. Every time you insert/remove memory card, you also need to unplug/plugin usb cable to the reader. * USB Lead is very short. very limiting in where you plug it in, and on a desktop PC can mean that you need to leave it dangling off it's cable which just doesn't seem right at all. Works fine plugged into extension cable but also need to make sure you unplug and plug in as per above.

Impressive Product on Linux, Raspberry Pi and Windows
I searched and searched until i was totally confused about what i wanted out of a card reader, anyway, I chose the PNY Multi-Slot, based on how its slots are arranged and its size. I can't fault it, its read usb flash drives and sd cards without any problem. I have successfully used it on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Ubuntu 10.04 and Fedora remix release 17 running on Rasberry Pi.

Essential connectivity for a new laptop
The PNY reader is a bit bigger than the old style memory sticks. New laptops seem to have fewer ports than a decade ago but I still need to connect old-style peripherals and storage.

a mixed bag - reliability issues
I've bought a couple of these and had mixed luck. The one I use on my main desktop works fine, running a USB wireless LAN adapter full time and the occasional flash drive or memory card and I've never had issues with devices dropping in and out. The one I use on my other computer on the other hand regularly disconnects devices attached to it, it has a couple of flash drives attached full time and an SD card. The slightest movement of the hub can cause it to disconnect one or all of the devices monetarily - I've also checked its not down to a bad or broken connection. I think the issue with these hubs is down to a cheap, poorly shielded USB cable and the hub not being able to provide enough current to power devices. On both mine if I attach a USB powered fan to the hub and nothing else it spins significantly slower than if it were attached to a case/motherboard USB port. The bright blue LED might have something to do with it. Even though these can be slightly unreliable they still work - most of the time. Just to update this, having just acquired a decent USB charger doctor - both my PNY hubs have issues delivering power as i previously thought. With nothing connected the Hub has 4.7v available, with one USB D-link WiFi adapter voltage drops to 4.4v, add a USB Thumb drive and the voltage hovers just above 4v with both items pulling a combined 300ma from the ports on the hub. The Hub is getting the full 5.1v from the port its plugged into. This is or could be the cause of all the reliability issues reported.
