I use my mirrorless camera to take images of birds so I set up the camera on a tripod and using a remote switch I can get away from the very shy birds and still take my pictures. The problem this switch solves for me is reach. It comes with an extension cable so I can get an additional 3-4 feet away from the camera and not distract the birds as much. The switch itself is simple to use, plug it in and push the button. It will also lock the button for long exposures. There's no battery to worry about and it's small enough and durable enough to stick into your pocket when not in use. All the functions of the OEM switch with the added length for a fraction of the cost = great value.

So simple, works great, I just with there was one with a longer cord. 6 feet is not enough for a full body pic or a group pic.

This works really good. I have a really big lens and even on the tripod it shakes if I try to press the shutter myself.

A remote shutter is something that you can go without for months, but as soon as you misplace or take yours out of the ol' camera bag, you'll find yourself needing one. Having a spare on-hand is a good idea. It's a simple piece of gear that doesn't need to cost more than what it costs to put a switch in a plastic clamshell and attach it to a 3.5mm cable. This fits the bill AND comes with an extension cable. It's nice to be able to unplug the cable when storing the remote as these tend to fail when the connection gets pinched or bent or broken-off.

Very simple to use. Just plug into the camera and it's ready. The included extension cord provides greater flexibility. Also it's very reasonably priced.

I purchased the "Canon C1" variation. The remote switch arrived and I tested it with my Canon 6D. The connector fit properly and I was able to trigger the shutter both with and without the screen turned on. This was something I was concerned about having read that some remote switches don't work when the view screen is activated. Obviously, I don't have any comment yet on the unit's long time reliability.

A decent alternative to the very expensive Nikon unit. Does the job without the branded price tag .. a remote shutter release with a decent long cord. I am bit finicky when it comes to photographic equipment and this measures up. I get annoyed with the big name brands gouging the end user because their nome is on the item . This item delivered ahead of schedule.
