Limited purple and black splatter colored vinyl LP pressing. You know it's Danzig the moment you hear him. It's not just that inimitable voice either. It's the thick airy guitars, bluesy swagger, and "come hither" evil that placed him at the forefront of a number of musical revolutions due to his ingenuity, horror and punk formally collided with The Misfits' genesis in the '70s. Anytime you see that iconic Misfits skull, you'll immediately think of his howl fueling punk classics like 82's Walk Among Us or 83's Wolf's Blood/Earth A.D. His vision for Samhain and albums such as Initium and November-Coming-Fire, indelibly impacted the landscape of extreme music, fortifying the crossroads between heavy riffs and occult imagery so prevalent these days. Then, there's his eponymous band - Danzig. 88's self-titled debut would go platinum and yield classics including "Mother," "Twist of Cain," and "She Rides," while overall sales across his catalog exceed 10 million worldwide to date. Review: This album will be especially appreciated by those who enjoy classic Danzig tracks like "Blood and Tears - This is an essential Danzig release, equally gratifying to hardcore and casual fans alike. For Misfits fans, this is Glenn's most punk-infused material in thirty years, but there's no shortage of doom-y, devil metal either. It's all covers of course, but most of the tunes are obscure and unrecognizable from their original versions. This album will be especially appreciated by those who enjoy classic Danzig tracks like "Blood and Tears," "Sistinas," and "Cold, Cold Rain"; that is to say this disc is loaded with syrupy, '50s ballad-esque melodies. The production and performances are raw and inconsistent from a technical standpoint, but at its best it features some of Glenn's most virtuosic singing to date. Standout tracks include "Devil's Angels," "Rough Boy," and "Crying in the Rain." A must for all fans-don't settle for the inferior YouTube rips. Review: Eclectic mix of great covers! - The long awaited Danzig covers album does not disappoint. If you are a fan of GD you will not be disappointed. Danzig really offers up an eclectic mix of covers here, by bands like: ZZTop, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, The Everly brothers, The Troggs, etc. Just a great selection of influences from throughout the legendary career of Glenn Danzig.

Disappointing Attempt at a Comeback
My copy of Skeletons finally arrived last week and I'm sorry to say, it's sorta on the disappointing side of things. The entire thing, packaging, liner notes, production, etc. just feels cheap as hell. I get it. In this day & age, musicians don't make squat and corners must be cut, but this is just piss poor. Cheap cardboard packaging, bare-bones liner notes, no booklet, no band photos. Then there's the music. I'm not usually one to criticize production values, so for me to notice, it must be bad. Glenn's vocals sound all echoey and too loud. The instruments sound all muddy and vary in loudness from track to track. It's evident that these tunes were recorded at different times. No consistency. I'm sure he (or rampant fans) will try to pass this off as "trying to recapture the old sound of the Misfits", but in 2015 it sounds like crap. As for the songs, some work better than others. The lesser known ones of course sound cooler if you have nothing to compare them to. I will say that on even the better known songs, he does give them enough of a Danzig spin to make them his own. No problems there. But on the ZZ Top song 'Rough Boy', he interjects a few f-bombs in there that make it sound like that scene from 'Old School' and the Dan Band. You know the one I'm talking about. It's 10 tracks that go by pretty quickly and it doesn't overstay it's welcome. So there's that. I won't say that I hate this or that it's unlistenable. It's interesting enough and I do like cover albums. But for a guy like me that lost track with Danzig some time ago, I wanted this to be a great comeback album that rekindled my interest for the man and his band. And that's where it failed. If this is indicative of what he's up to these days, I'll pass.

Some people might be disappointed because they may think this is not a "Danzig" ...
Some people might be disappointed because they may think this is not a "Danzig" record. It's not. It's a record of Danzig doing cover tunes, and it is very good. There are some interesting song choices, but Danzig puts his unique touch on each one and overall the record is really solid. The only downside for me is that it could have been recorded a bit better, as the vocals are sometimes low in the mix. I saw Danzig in concert a few weeks ago here in NYC and they did three of the tracks from this record ('Let Yourself Go', 'NIB' and 'Action Woman') during their set. They were much heavier in a live setting and sounded great. The audience didn't seem disappointed at all that night.

DANZIG
This is a great album. The record is straight, no warps and the colors look great. Sound quality is good without issue.

i do not know why everyone is giving this album a negative review... in my opinion, it is danzig's best work since danzig 4. i love all these covers, and i think that some of them are even better than the originals! the only complaint i have with this album is the mixing and mastering could have been better, other than that... awesome album! some of these songs sound like old-school misfits songs as well! ignore all these reviews here, and get it if you are a metal fan!

If your like me and grew up listening to Danzig back in the 80's you may well likely enjoy this album as much as I do.

I think Danzig should stick to his own music. Listening to him, trying to do cover of his own personal favourite bands, from back in the days, isn't a pleasant experience. He sounds so boring, listening to him butchering song after song. His vocals are meant for his own music. That is where his voice do the more justice.
