Product Description Certified at 3 million units by the RIAA. (2/01) .com One of ZZ Top's great gifts is its concision; even in the side-long-jam era of the '70s, the Texans almost always fit 10 cuts on their albums. Surveying two decades of their output, Greatest Hits isn't the perfect overview you might expect, but it's still a pretty darn good driving album. The disc goes easy on the pre-Deguello stuff surveyed on their earlier best-of, and seems to digitally boost the drums on tracks like the 1975 "Tush." Still, later cuts like "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide" and "My Head's in Mississippi" are full-on triumphs of this trio's very weird, very blues-drenched sensibility. --Rickey Wright

I owned the cassette Afterburner back in the 80's, and always listened to it when my NATO buddies and I took the train into Paris. The songs that stuck out were Planet of Women, Woke Up With Wood, Stages, and the music videos my mom would sent me on VHS of Sleeping Bag and Rough Boy. Afterburner wasn't their most popular album, and many diehard fans even didn't like the new synthesizer sound. Sadly, Woke Up with Wood and Stages aren't include on this best of.Eliminator was the album that really was their mainstream popular album with my favorite ZZ Top song of all time Got Me Under Pressure. As I listen to this CD over and over, I still agree with this assessment 30 years later that this is my favorite song. The popular music videos Give Me All Your Lovin, Sharp Dressed Man, and their most popular video Legs are all included on this album. The diehard fans of ZZTop which I never was, will always consider La Grange and Tush as their greatest songs. Of course I love those songs and they are included on this CD as well, although the version of La Grange isn't that ultra stereophonic one. It's the version that was all over the radio back in the 70's that WSHE or ZETA 4 in Miami played back in the 70's.If you're looking for a mellow guitar riff, you'll have Cheap Sunglasses because the words to it were just "Oh Yeah", and of course Pearl Necklace which uses the lyrics "and that's not jewelry she's talkin' about".Overall, this is a great CD for the casual fan.
