Excellent portable solution for XLR mic inputs on PC or Android
Many things to like, good sound quality input and output, allows high quality microphone connection to phone, tablet or laptop. Also acts as a sound card for wired headphones on laptops daft enough not to include an audio jack. Very much recommended for portable audio needs. So far plugs into USB C and just works, also tried on USB A. NB I haven't yet found a situation I need the batteries which helps keep the weight down, 48v power works fine for microphones from USB C connection. It is a shame that the USB cable is not USB C on both ends. The headphone jack could be further from the USB socket, one of my bigger, non-standard headphone cables doesn't fit well. But normal ones will. Does it need the battery compartment? it could be smaller and more portable if it didn't have it. Overall great product using it regularly for recording, zoom/teams etc on the go.

Does not include USB-C cable mentioned in the photos, just lightening and regular USB

iRig Pre HD
Needs to be connected to a phone or other source to start working. So don’t get scared if you don’t see any lights when you connect to your microphone only. Seems a bit finicky and almost like a child's toy but is a rather useful tool for picking up on small sounds with the option to choose gain levels. Even better that it comes with a velcro strap to hang onto tripod stands, as well as connecting cords for phones or laptops. Would recommend. Happy content creator.

IRig pre hd
I love this I had the first IRig pre it worked but not like the pre hd sound quality is amazing plus you got gain so you can add some grit. Definitely worth the price snd them some.

NEVER. BUY. THIS. PRODUCT.
Absolutely terrible. I don't think I have EVER bought something of this quality. Amazon should return every single unit it has to the maker, since this products is UNUSABLE. Where to start... ah, at any subtle movement the device plugs off the computer - if this wasn't enough, there a built in gate that makes it absolutely useless if someone is playing anything that has a quick transient (like drums for example). The audio quality is also very low, and with the master at maximum you have digital distortion. Well done IK Multimedia, you have officially created the WORST products in the history of audio technology.

Poor design is a let down, despite the good sound
Fiddly connecting cable with a flimsy plug that can easily slip out of the slot. Very annoying. Another let down is the amount of battery it consumes very quickly... And you only know it is almost done when the light begins to flash, which is not ideal! As for the sound, that is good, but the rest of the POOR DESIGN features are for me sufficiently annoying to make me not like it enough...

Clean sound and improved pre-amp
This device allows you to use XLR microphones with your iPhone and greatly improves the sound by utilising a good and quiet pre-amplifier. Latency free monitoring is another bonus and the visual meter is simple but effective. Could wish for a better build quality at this price - I had to return my first sample due to a faulty cable, but it was exchanged without issues (other than the usual Amazon paperwork/trip to post office etc). When using the iRIG pre HD with a dynamic microphone (like RØDE M1 or SHURE SM58) you need to dial gain up to 20% from max at normal spoken level, but it does not introduce noticeable noise. The device use the power from the iPhone (or a connected computer) to feed the pre amp, but takes batteries (2xAA) to feed the microphone with phantom power (if required). I found that Apple's "Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter" can be used to feed the phone with power through the Lightning plug while using the enclosed USB to mini USB cable to connect the Pre HD to the iphone - in case you need to make long recordings. I can recommend this product.

Wonderful product. Clarity is amazing with my SM58 mic. I had Irig Pre. For somereason Irig pre stopped working after 2 years. Now I have upgraded to HD. It’s definitely has better clarity and build quality than the previous version. Hopefully this will last long. I give 5 stars in all departments except for price. It is very expensive. But unfortunately it is the only MFI product I know of.
