it is not easy. Using epoxy or a heat knife never gives ...
This tool is a dream come true. I recently purchased a salvaged motorcycle as a project not too long ago. The plastic farings had snapped off in several places due to it being dropped on both sides. I have tried repairing plastic before, and let me tell you, it is not easy. Using epoxy or a heat knife never gives you the type of control and precision you get out of this kit. It includes a booklet with all the different types of plastics it works on. Not only that, but it also has different techniques for fixing different types of breaks. It also has recomendations for different tools and epoxies if the plastic isn't compatible with this tool. Very helpful and I learned a lot just by buying this. Saved me hours of gluing.

This welder is FANTASTIC!
So I bought this to fix an old dash. Even just for this purpose, this welder basically paid for itself. But since then, I have had a lot of uses for it, and it works great! I bought new polypropylene fender flares for my truck and screwed up a bunch of holes. I used this unit to plug them, and you can barely tell the bad holes were even here. I then screwed up my welding helmet and used it again to fix it. It basically saved me the cost of a new helmet. I have a couple of kayaks and I know it's just a question of time before I gouge the hull or even poke a hole through it. This little welder will come in really handy!

made in China
The tool itself works just great. The temperature adjustment is nice, as is the supply of various plastic rods. My one disappointment is that it's made in China. I was going to buy a Chinese plastic welder before I discovered this unit. I really do prefer to buy products made in the USA, even at a premium. So I was willing to pay extra for this, and did. When it arrived however, the tool had a sticker on it which said "Made in China".Also, the storage box is a bit cumbersome to use; the parts don't stay in their assigned places so even though you try to put it away neatly, once you open it back up the parts are just floating around. And the cord management in the box has room for improvement.Again, the welder works great, and I've used it extensively on several different projects; But it's still made in China. If you're going to buy China-built it's not clear the adjustable temperature is a huge improvement over the fixed-temperature $16 Harbor Freight equivalent, at one tenth the cost.

Awsome
I don't usually leave reviews at all. I read the reviews on this and decided I would give it a try. Just like another person that reviewed it, I used it on my 2003 gmc dually bedside. It worked perfect. It did everything it said it would do. I had larger gaps than others have filled and it worked flawless. It takes a few minutes to get used to the flow and holding it. After that it works seamless. Thank you so much this just saved me $1800.00.

This is a Must-Have Welder!!!
Initially I purchased this to repair a vibration fracture in my ATV Fender. Along with the Welder Kit, the Mfg includes a DVD mini-Course. If you follow their instructions, you will be AMAZED by all the plastic junk which you can repair (and save from the junkyard)(saving your wallet as well). I followed their instructions, and Welded/Repaired my ATV Fender's creeping Crack. After I finished sanding and painting, you cannot even tell there was a Crack. This Welding Kit is truly a worthwhile tool; and if you do any repairs, this one is a MUST-have. As more and more things are being fabricated with sooooooooo many different formulations of different Plastics, having this Kit will pay for itself many times over. Hint: Prepping the Materials, and "Choosing the proper Welding Rod" are KEY to a Great Weld; don't care if it's Metal or Plastic. My preference in Welding Rod for Welding Plastics (thus far) is their 'FiberFlex' Rods. (Same material used in Automotive Bumper Covers. Very-Very Durable, and Bonds well with many other Plastic types).

Garbage!!!!!!
So after using cheap alternatives I decided to invest in a more quality unit, I did my research and this unit seemed like the way to go well at least I thought. I am a hobbyist and even though initially this machine worked well it did not last long before the issues started to show itself mainly it started to fluctuate temp in the solder side then it just stopped working all together! This is just another overprice china made piece of garbage! Don't Waste your money and stick with something cheaper because now I'm just out of any kind of warranty period and out all that money what a damn shame
