The kit is nice, The tools are O.K. quality.. but the vice broke the 2nd week.

influenced by the positive reviews, i bought this.........it came in the mail, i opened it, and my heart sank: pure crap. the base plate for the vise was glued on rather than screwed on (there are holes in the base for screws but only 2 mm of wood to bite into), the tools were rusty and poorly made, the blue "felt" liner is actually paper glued in with a weak glue so it delaminates very easily, there was wood lacquer slopped over the hinges making them stick, and when you lay it on a flat surface to tie, it is not squarely built so it wobbles......also, as far as integrity goes, the box it came in says assembled and packed in the usa, but there is a made in india sticker on the actual kit box. truth, spend 20 more bucks and get something that wont fall apart in a week and that comes from a seller with product pride

Bought this kit in order to tie some flies while being in the US for some months. Thought that it also would be nice to bring this kit on fishing trips since it is small and handy. The quality is (as you could expect from the price) not the best but well enough. You should never expect to actually get a good and working Bobbin in such sets. I had to replace it instantly because it the original one snapped the thread right away. But as I said - you can't expect high-end tools from such a set. Anyway, it is ok to work with and I had fun tying many flies. Even if it is somewhat heavy, I would recommend it to people who know what to expect. It is not a beginner set. You will get frustrated and give up tying. Go for something better in quality to start with.

I wouldn't recommend this product to anybody that is thinking of beginning fly-tying--the product looks better in the photo thanit actually is. I have seen better quality in other stores and sites.

This was is a cheap set. The attachment arm does not tighten to the base well. That being said for the price it is good. It was my first set and my son and I are having fun making flys.
