GameSir G7 SE - A Nice Replacement for XBox One Controller on PC
GameSir G7 SE Wired Controller is the object under review here. I was flicking through TikTok in a panic (as you do) when an advert came up for this controller, which reminded me that I had promised myself I'd get a new wired controller for my PC, having been putting up with the wireless XBox version for a year or so. I came to that one from the old (and very much missed) XBox 360 version. Sadly, that one is difficult to find these days. This is by way of letting you know that I have many decades of experience with controllers. Not that you should listen to me in preference to all the other splendid reviewers here. This is just my thruppence worth. So, after watching a chap called Linus (the tech tip guy) compare a whole bunch of controllers, this one (the GameSir G7 SE) was I think the most recommended wired controller. Other influencers on YouTube seemed to think it was pretty good too, so that helped me make my mind up. The influencers were not specific about the colour, but one reviewer did say the thing was only available in white. No, no, no. At least here in the UK I had a wide choice, settling on the lovely baby blue one (just to avoid confusion with the original XBox One device, which was black). I was pleased to see that the controller came with a cable which was also a similar shade of blue, albeit slightly lighter in tone. Probably something to do with the braided texture rather than any failure of Pantone blending in either the design or the manufacturing phase. The cable is a good length too (someone mentioned ten feet, but I didn't measure it), allowing me to snake it under my monitor and behind the computer table into a nice USB port on the back of my PC. In my hands the GameSir G7 SE seemed rather smaller than the XBox One controller, a fact confirmed by a close comparison. The textured undersides of both are different too, with the XBox controller having a rather more refined texture that feels better to me. The GameSir G7 SE is lighter even than the empty XBox One controller - a positive boon if you are sensitive to weight in that way. I'm not, but I might be after a marathon session of No Man's Sky. The analogue sticks feel good, not better than the XBox One device, but perfectly serviceable, and of course they have some kind of magic going on that makes the GameSir G7 SE operate without contact points, so that should mean a long life - at least for those parts. All the buttons and triggers are nice, but the menu buttons are in an entirely different place, meaning that in my gameplay tests I was hitting blank plastic for the first few minutes. Not a problem. Even my old brain will adapt eventually. There are two "extra" buttons, or paddles on the UNDERSIDE the GameSir G7 SE, which both have little switches to lock them. I cannot imagine ever using them, but they are there and they don't really affect the feel of the thing. GameSir is very keen for us to download their app, which connects to the GameSir G7 SE controller and allows you to create profiles. I have no use for that. I can barely manage the games I play as it is without getting confused by managing profiles! But some of you may love this idea. It looks as though the front fascia of the GameSir G7 SE can be removed. I don't know why anyone would want to, and I haven't tried it myself. Well, that's not true. I did give it a tug (there's a small and very inviting indent on the front which cries out to be fiddled with) but I gave up for fear of breaking it. But again, some of you might have better luck. I did think for a moment that the dead zones of both sticks were a little extreme, but I did a quick comparison with the old XBox One controller and it was exactly the same! Neat! All in all, a nice wee controller in a variety of colours with a few extra buttons and a long wire of a matching shade.

Way better than the Official Controller that comes with the Xbox console!
Great Controller, at least there's no longer any drift like the original Xbox Series X controller that came with it ended up getting (kicker, it was only seven days old when I got it as I got it with the console! 😑).. Only issue is, I wish this came in other colours like Deep Pink, Neon Pink Yellow, Toxic Green, Red and so on!. Will be buying two more soon for both my wife and daughter.. n_n ..

best controller
Best controller ever I've never had stick drift and its so customizable. my only problem with it is that it doesnt come in other colors like black or green because the white can get stained easily with sweaty hands

Great controller but one minor gripe
Great controller. Build quality is nice, buttons and Hall effect sticks and triggers are wonderful and feels far better than a standard Xbox controller. The software is also really good for customising. There is one thing holding it back from a full 5 stars and that’s the usb-c input on the controller. Do be aware, if you plan on getting your own cable then pay close attention and do some research as I have tried 3 very well made and highly rated cables and none worked and took me a while to figure out that the cable that comes with the controller firstly, has a very narrow usb-c casing which you can easily find but anything longer than 10ft / 3m won’t work due to the controller having Hall effect sticks it’s just the max length for it to work correctly and that’s not the manufacturers fault it’s just how it is so keep this in mind if you want something longer. If they solve that, it would be a full 5 stars as even the trigger and handle rumble feels a tad better than the original controller and it has made a massive difference to my enjoyment and level in some games. *small update (11/07/2025) - the D pad has become a little unresponsive, at times not registering an input and I don’t use the D pad very much apart from in menus mainly so it’s a little disappointing but the controller is still very much worth it. Hopefully I just have a bad sample.

Incredible controller, ready for the most competitive of gamers.
I have put easily over 300 Hours into this controller, I have tested it in Call of Duty, CS:GO, Tekken 7 and Sonic Adventure DX (a game that I am EXTREMELY adept at, to the point that I have held multiple Speedrun world records in) Now here is my update/ review. The build quality is solid with no flex or creeks in the shell, with a shape and size even more comfortable to me than an official OEM Xbox controllers. Contrary to other reviews there is a very comfortable grippy texture on the back that works well even when my hands sweat. This is personal preference but the ABXY face buttons feel better to me than even official OEM Xbox controller buttons. Though I do want to note that they feel a bit closer to the right stick than on an official Xbox OEM controller. The guide, share, start and menu buttons all have a satisfying tactile click, same goes for the bumpers. The D-pad is also very assuring with no slop and a definitive stepped feeling when pressing initially but rolls smoothly. The back buttons are a similar kind of click-y as the Guide, share, menu and start buttons, but since I play with the Claw grip on controller I don't use them and have used the switches to lock them. They are comfortably placed and don't bother me at all. For the triggers this is the ONLY place I have found an issue. When used in normal mode with full minimum and maximum deadzone, the triggers function just as well as official Xbox OEM controller triggers, though noticeably more sensitive on the low end and more accurate, I will test them again when I can get the latest Forza game. However in the hair trigger mode is where I found an issue, most of the time they function great and actuate INSANELY quickly making rapid fire with semi-automatic weapons much easier and faster. But in multiple instances I have been holding the left trigger to aim down sights in MWII, only for the trigger to disengage mid gunfight causing me to release my ADS and costing me the fight. This is just a theory but there may be some jitter in the trigger sensors, though I am confident that this is NOT a hardware issue and can be fixed in future firmware updates. Now for the main attraction, the Hall effect sticks. HOLY CRAP THESE THINGS ARE GOD TIER!!! These are BY FAR THE GREATEST STICKS I'VE EVER USED IN MY LIFE! The stick tops are comfortable and provide more than adequate grip despite being modelled closer to the PS4/5 stick tops which I usually don't like for their lack of grippynness. The stick tops also have very minimal slop making me very confident that every micro adjustment I make will be translated in game. As for their in game performance, AGAIN HOLY CRAP! I have never experienced joystick input as accurate and precise in my life, this controller is an FPS scalpel as opposed to every other controller who's sticks might as well be blunt rusty butchers cleavers in comparison. You can actually make MICRO adjustments with these sticks, the only thing I can describe them as is a high end gaming mouse in joystick form, They are obviously aren't as precise as a real mouse due to range of motion limitations and ergonomics, but I have been able to seamlessly transition from large sweeping turns to surgical pinpoint snaps and recoil control on a dime (NOT just blindly pulling down to fight muzzle climb, but countering PER SHOT RECOIL) in the past on official Xbox OEM controllers, I have tried the same micro adjustments only for them to either get eaten or jump further than intended with tragic results. Not so with these sticks, I can confidently say 100% that EVERY missed shot is 100% my own fault with the controller not holding me back AT ALL. Sticks this precise combined with the 265Hz polling rate of the controller makes inputs feel IMMEDIATE and consistent. On top of the immediate responsiveness stick input on screen is BUTTERY SMOOTH, trying to slowly pan side to side on an official Xbox OEM controller feels stutter-y in comparison, it is akin to the feel of moving from 30FPS to 60FPS for the first time, which also helps with micro adjustment because the smoothness of movement makes predicting crosshair/ sight-picture movement feel extremely natural. This makes flick snaps and adjusting your aim for fighting opponents using a headglitch FAR easier. While not a negative I feel it only right to give anyone looking at this controller a heads up, that there IS a learning curve to this controller. While you can just pick it up and start dominating (assuming you already had the skill to do so before using this) It feels like this controller has a slightly different native response curve than Official Xbox OEM controllers, and you will have to adjust to be able to take full advantage of the precision of this controller. Also it really is a REQUIREMENT to download the Gamesir Nexus app from the Microsoft store as by default there is a 10% deadzone that you need to reduce to 0 for best results. Also in my personal opinion Raw stick input feels the best, however it is VERY sensitive which may be to aggressive to many people. All in all I'd give this controller a 9.5/10, assuming the hair triggers are fixed in a future firmware update, along with the addition of being able to create custom response curves this controller would easily be a 10. Though in future iterations along with the original G7's mechanical face buttons I'd like to see some PHYSICAL trigger stops on top of the hall effect triggers with digital hair triggers, add on a decent case for £10 and this would literally be THE GOD CONTROLLER. (not that it isn't A god controller already) Hope this review helps, and sorry for being so wordy, I wanted to be sure to be thorough.

GameSir G7 SE wired - better than the xbox original
xbox s wireless controller got stick drift after only a few months of use. Lots of research later I got this GameSir G7 SE wired controller whilst the og was in for replacement. After a few weeks using it I can say that it performs flawlessly, with zero drift or dropout - just perfect gaming. Having a spare controller is a good plan as one of them is always likely to go at some point but I was shocked at the xBox one conking out so soon. The only minor negative is a slight difference in the placement of the small option buttons (centre top) which is further north than on the original controller but I have now recalibrated my head for this and it's fine. The controller also has a port for headphones (I prefer to use the port in my monitor). The sticks are coated with decent grippy stuff that does not seem to get greasy with extended use. The USB-C cable is a good length and feels really well-made and strong and it has a secure connection at both ends. Yes, I'd recommend this controller.

Faulty batch
On purchase i can say that issues from day one. It feels nice and has great value if it works. You cant go wrong. Installed the software but still had persistent issues. Not sure if there is a power outage problem but constantly has issues connecting and disconnecting. As time has gone by this has become progressively worse as you are playing till a discconect in mid game. I have checked all my usb devices and they are fine. There is a major fault here to which i probably persisted to long and is now ready for the bin. Tried other usb cables and same issues of disconnections. I used to get an hour out of it now i am lucky if i get 10.

Great controller let down by the plastic strength of its bumper buttons
I did really enjoy this controller, great anlog sticks, great face buttons, nice how the cable port is built inside which keeps it safe and sturdy but the bumper buttons are bad. After 1 year use, the plastic hinge for the RB wore down and snapped off. GameSir was nice enough to send me a free replacement but now a year later the same thing has happened. I've seen other uses having the same problem. GameSir really needs to focus on designing the bumper hinges stronger. Currently trying to glue it back on (pictures). Please allow us to buy replacement buttons :(
