Works better than others.
Careful. This product works better than the Control GX. What I mean as being careful is that don’t let the product stay on your skin longer than 5 minutes. It will stain your skin. I was able to reduce my grays significantly in 3 days. Compared to others that I’ve tried, where I have to let it stay for about 10 minutes. Yes, it can stain your nails, obviously. It’s the same composition of hair. Recommend buffing your nails or wear gloves prior. Not sure about thickening your beard as I don’t have thin beard. I didn’t get any skin reactions nor itching.

See advantages and disadvantages
Works very good but very messy. Has to be worked into beard and facial hair and left for 5mins then washed off. Advantages - Results are noticed immediately and overall beard darkness gets better after several uses if done as a daily routine. Disadvantages- very messy stains sinks , bathroom floor and finger nails and lips.

This product works
Control GX Light Shades does exactly what it promises -- delivers partial and gradual elimination of gray hair. Ideal if your hair color is anything other than black -- brown, light brown, blonde -- works invisibly with all these hair colors. Looks natural, and is so easy to use. The shampoo component is really good too, one of my favorite personal care products. Highly recommended.

Usage Tips
First off, it worked - my 1" short-medium fine-haired beard thickened up and darkened nicely after six applications spaced every other day, and is maintained with a weekly application. There are enough testimonials, so this is about some tips I learned along the way.First, they aren't kidding about this stuff staining - wear latex or food service gloves. When you see drippings from the lather or rinse-out on tub/shower or sink you'll appreciate your gloves.Second, I found it better to wash over a sink instead of in the shower. I use a glop about the size of a nickel. The suggested soak time of 3-5 minutes counts, and that's hard in the shower.Next, they say to use your palms or flat of your fingers to work it into your beard, to protect your fingernails from staining (if you don't wear gloves); but gloves or not, a beard & scalp massager (on Amazon) does a better job quickly and gets down to the base (which makes a difference). Use your thumbnail on your lips as you do with shaving cream before starting your 3-5 minutes soak. The beard & scalp massager can also help with rinsing it out of your beard, but however you rinse it out, be sure to rinse your sink from what you’ll see in it from your rinse. Finally, they say to use a dark towel to dry your beard and again, they aren’t kidding. I bought some black microfiber “makeup washcloths” (Amazon) that work well (and also serve as quickie hand towels). The whole process takes about ten minutes.A note on color. Give it a day or so before assessing any change. If you have the wisdom of years, salt & pepper may be more appropriate & distinguished than full dark; but if you have a better half, you know the magic words (“Yes, dear”) – let *her* decide when to stop darkening! :)

Works but with serious caveat
It does reduce the appearance of gray. However, the non-gray hairs seem to take up significantly more of the dye. The white hairs will turn into a dull, darker gray while the brown hairs turn black. This has a blending effect. But the beard overall looks significantly darker. It is very noticable. You will get the question, "Did you dye your beard, it looks darker". I don't understand why they market this product as being for all hair colors. It definitely is not. They need lighter versions. If it was a brown dye that didn't turn black it would be a good product.

DOES NOT WORK ON COARSE BEARDS
New label, same crappy product. Dye doesn't take at all on coarse beards like mine. The shampoo is great, the beard wash is a complete waste of money

Smells like hair dye is in it, and seems to work better than the non-thickening brown package one.
This "thickening" version seems to work a lot better at actually dying your beard hair then the standard non-thickening beard wash in the brown packaging. This smells like it has hair dye in it, whereas the standard brown package smells much better. But this seems to work far better, so take that into consideration.

Grey away
Works well but you need to shake vigorously. Will stain shower if white.
