Lesser-known gem
So many people I know of don't know what laksa is. I've made this for several and they love it! Would recommend this brand if buying a paste instead of making your own.

Tasted great
Tasted great and authentic. Most importantly for me it seems to be vegetarian so I can also use it for my vegetarian wife

Not at all what I expected
I make my laksa with fishcake, a boiled egg, sometimes some fried tofu, prawns, noodles, beansprouts and occasionally chicken and various vegetables. But always I have added coconut milk. Alarm bells should have rung when I saw this did not require the coconut milk. It seems they have included the coconut in the sauce, but the result is truly awful. There is none of the flavour you would expect and you require two jars to make a substation meal, even for one. The result is a rather greasy mess, not inedible by any means, but certainly nothing like any laksa I have ever tasted. Stick with traditional laksa paste and add your coconut milk separately. Most of my effort went down the loo, before passing through me.
