I got this because my cable had snapped and couldn't really be bothered going to vw. But after several hours it still kept on popping open causing you to be back to square one if you was to shut the bonnet. Long story short. A new cable from VW was £16 including vat and one the shelf ready to go. Got home within 10mins job was done.SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE AND GO BUY THE PROPER PRODUCT FROM THE DEALER!!

It was a mistake to buy this for £16. It snapped at the 3'rd opening of the bonnet. The process for changing it took about 3 hours. The front grille needs to be removed. Check YouTube videos and you will understand why you shouldn't try your luck with this product. I was a full to not believe the other 1 Star reviews.

Fit was fine, just like OEM. However, the ferrule at the end of the cable broke off after about 5 uses, leaving me trapped out of the bonnet. The process for getting into the bonnet again is long and difficult, and for GTIs involves cutting away the front grille. This was an expensive £15!

The bonnet release catch is operated by a two piece cable consisting of wire cable and a plastic connector.Obviously the plastic connector is the the weakest part of the cable, why not just have one cable from the bonnet release handle straight through to the bonnet catch?

Purchased this bonnet cable , broke straight away after fitting it , pulled it once and the junction box just literally snapped, got so annoyed I ripped it off and then binned it , tried contacting the seller , not received a response
