Very useful piece of kit
Having had a reflector telescope for a few months now I decided that a Collimator would be a useful aid in insuring that the instrument was probably set up. Having purchased items from SVBony before I decided to go to them for this model. The collimator arrived well packed and with basic instructions as to how to use, however there are many videos on Utube showing this procedure and would recommend watching some of them as it makes understanding the set up much easier. The collimator felt well made and proved straightforward to use in fine tuning my telescope, overall a good tool and well priced for the quality. I am happy to recommend this product.

Spot-On
I have to say that this arrived with a perfect collimation and the laser is bright, in fact I have used it on a low setting as it's so effective. I rate this product well and is of high quality components. If you want an easy way to align your telescope, this is a must have product.

much simpler to use then a cheshire.
I initially purchased a Cheshire Collimator £37 to ensure my reflector mirrors on a skywatcher 200p were aligned/collimated properly. However, it was a wee bit difficult to use and gauge whether the collimation was successfull or not. As i'd never done anything like this before, I spent close to an hour adjusting the various screws, going back to the view finder and trying to make sure the I could see the 3 mirror clips as per the instructions in the telescope user manual, but I could never get to that point. I was eventually very frustrated and decided to return that and purchase this one instead.(I will upload images of what I did soon)I first checked as per guides by other users to make sure the collimator was collimated. This was a breeze and I found no issues there.. so thumbs up there.Next, I inserted the collimator in the focuser and to my surprise the collimation wasn't too bad (maybe I could've stuck with the cheshire, but I couldn't confirm it).The secondary alignment was a little bit out and so was the primary.Using the sybony was a walk in the park. It took me approximately 5-10mins to collimate the telescope.I first aligned the seconday mirror so I could see the red dot in the centre black circle on the primary mirror and then I aligned the primary mirror to ensure the red dot was in the centre of the sybony reticule.note: The process of collimating the secondary and primary I had to do twice as once i got the primary back in alignment the secondary was then out of alignment. A litle adjustment on the secondary and then the primary and all was done. I re-checked the next day again and checked against a star. All good.

Easy and quick collimation.
Comes already collimated itself, easier and faster to use than a collimation cap. There are 7 brightness levels useful for collimating in various light levels. The brightest is very bright - so be careful not to look down at the primary to see if the beam is centred until you are absolutely certain it isn't missing the secondary (wave your hand in front of the telescope or use a piece of paper).

Poor self Collimation - Needed setting up
The media could not be loaded. Looks nice out of the box. Unfortunately, mine also came with appalling initial self collimation. The site listing says that the unit cannot be adjusted to achieve collimation, and indeed the adjuster holes are covered in a poured in liquid rubber. Carefully cutting out the rubber revealed three allen head bolts. Creating a simple timber V block the poor collimation was confirmed. After releasing and adjusting the allen head bolts, good self collimation was achieved. Whilst this all took less than an hour, and the purchased item is now useable, it's mighty disappointing that the primary function of the unit - good self collimation - was so terrible, rendering it unfit for purpose and in a non-merchantable quality. The laser dot is fine at the lower settings when in use. However, the dot is slightly distorted and smudged at full brightness — a lower setting for the win. If you have the time, patience and skill to create a practical V block arrangement, then it is possible to correct the poor initial state of the unit. However, if you want something that is right straight from the box, then you run the risk of getting a unit like mine: annoyingly unfit and pointless for accurate setting up of a telescope.

Nice hardware, by mine was useless out of the box - needs alignment!
Great value hardware, but mine arrived horribly mid-aligned. Don’t expect to use it straight out of the box!Alignment was simple enough - there are countless YouTube videos showing how to adjust the laser so the beam is co-axial with the mechanical axis of the collimator. No harder than the telescope collimation task you’re trying to do in the first place.Minus two stars because this adjustment isn’t part of the product - no instructions, and the adjustment screws are hidden away under sticky sealant. Should just come with a simple test jig, a screwdriver and some good instructions! If you’re happy digging into the device to unseal the adjustment screws and do the biz, you’ll be pleased with the product ultimately.

It works.
Excellent quality. The internal laser can arrive out of line but this one was spot on. Mirrors now aligned perfectly.

Didn't impress
Not great, even when the laser is collimated it's way off. Save your money and buy a Cheshire eyepiece.
