Q: Is the thread used for the hemming also cotton? I'm looking for towels that could be dyed, and I don't want bright white polyester hem thread showing.

The towels are so well made that I had to search to find a piece of the hemming thread to test. The borders are straight as an arrow and the towels are perfectly rectangular. How they sell them as reasonably as they do, I don't know. The small piece of thread that I was able to remove consisted of very short fibers that fluffed right up as soon as I pulled it apart. if it had been made of polyester, the fibers would have been much longer. I then dropped the fibers onto my ceramic cooktop --the fibers did not melt--they charred. If they had been polyester, they should have melted then caught fire. So my guess is that they are made of cotton. The small strip that is sewn diagonally into one of the corners to use for hanging, I don't know--it's a narrow, borderless strip of a totally different weave AND color. I suspect that it might be polyester, but I really can't tell. For the price, experimenting wouldn't be too costly, and even if it is poly, you might be able to get away with it. W.H.H.

Q: Where are these towels made?

It says India on the back label. I love these towels because they are perfect for drying, and made well. I can embroider on them too.

Q: are linen and towel 7pack 33inx38 or 28x28 description shows the print in bold black shows 33x38?

The 7 pack I received are large, and the size is 33x38; I also ordered a 12 pack at a later date that measured 28x 28 -- the quality is excellent!

Q: Are these thick enough for machine embroidery?

Yes! I've done many embroidered designs on these!
