Microscale Liquid Decal Film 1fl.oz

I bought this for my son as he is turning 12 and was finishing a project before his birthday. when he came to the decals they were bad quality so i bought him this so he can apply his decals without having a problem(tearing) when put on the hurricane! What do you think of his finished painted model he even added a panel wash to the hurricane so it looks like it has been ing tough times! I think he has done a great job!

I'd never used this kind of product before but this worked better than I thought. It's like a thin clear varnish but dries invisibly, making it perfect for waterproofing decals and also for use as a base coat on matt surfaces prior to decal application. Note: The brush needs to be cleaned with white spirit.

Doesn’t work

I bought this as I was having trouble with a 15 year old sheet of Slix decals,that were disintegrating. I used this on the rest of the sheet and it worked perfect. I have used it with some decals that were out of my parts/decal box that were over thirty years old and they held together . I had to use Decalset and Decalsol to get them to stick but well worth the effort.

I used it to reinforce some particularly fine and delicate decals. It slows down water absorption by probably 400% (ie you have to leave the decals in the water at least four times longer for them to come off the backing paper compared to uncoated decals) but it's probably worth it if the ones you have are fine and small. After you apply with a brush and leave to dry, you need to wash your brushed in something other than water (doh!) - I used acetone. Oh and they could put it in a different coloured bottle (maybe green print?) Printed in blue it's way to easy to grab this one instead of the micro sol i the same colour print bottle.
