Ideal light for a doctor
The Coast G20 penlight is ideal for a doc. It has a focused beam, without the dim, distracting, peripheral light often seen with LED flashlights. It's literally spot on. (That term is overused and cliched, in my opinion, but it fits here.) It’s not as bright as others. Lucy the wonder dog wouldn’t want us to use it walking through snow at night in the woods, looking for a place to, well, you know, but it’s perfectly bright for looking down throats, up noses, and in other places where the sun don’t shine. It’s also good for highlighting skin lesions and checking pupillary response. The best parts are that there is no focusing collar and only one light level. Re-doing focus and having to click through multiple light levels drives me crazy. Just turn it on and off. Just use it. That’s a lot less bothersome. You get what you want without having to go through multiple permutations of lumens and beam focus. The perimeter of the beam has a faint blue tint, about 1 mm into the white light, but this does not affect the rest of the beam, which stays white. That worried me at first, as some lights I’ve had with a blue tint tended to wash out the colors I needed to see. With the Coast G20 colors such as red inflamed tissue or red arteries appear true. The beam does not have a large diameter, nor do I want it to. Sold as an inspection light it’s just that. The build is substantial, although I haven’t yet thrown it off any buildings nor run over it with my truck. It has some heft to it but fits well in my shirt pocket without much pull. That only means it's rugged and should last. The red band on the switch end looks cool, too. If you’re a doc, PA, NP, nurse, orderly, or even the lady that dishes out the fried okra in the hospital cafeteria (she might drop her spoon under the counter, you know) you will find this light to be just right. I do. Buy one now so they stay on the market, although one should last a lifetime. We’ll see about that as we use it.

Incredible.
I am so so happy with this. I was looking for a flashlight to be in my EMT kit, so something that I could use to check pupil dilation and have as an inspection light. It feels super sturdy, and is made very well. Everything just works and there isn't extra stuff that you don't need on it, making it small, light but feeling like it has good presence in your hand, and also just super functional. I have noticed it does not overheat easily, or for that matter at all! It stays super cool (especially considering how bright and focused the beam is) and does not even heat up the part around the lens. Really loved this so much, its so perfect, also if you were wondering the clip can come off easily with intention, but will 100% stay in place and not move around when not wanting it to come off!

Great little flashlight.
Foreword: This listing is for the 7817 flashlight, the picture shows a G20. What I received was in fact a G20 but it's slightly different from both pictures. Mainly: There is NO eye for a lanyard and there is a groove for the pocket clip to actually engage with. I personally love this thing. So far I've bought two and I plan on buying more until I have one in every room. Okay I'm exaggerating a little but I do plan on getting a few more of these. It throws a very focused beam within a small area so if you want a lot of light over a wide area this is not a light for you. I like that it's bright but not TOO bright. It's perfect for working on computers or under desks, inside engines, or anywhere with limited room for maneuverability. Why is this desirable? For me personally, when working in computers if the flash light is too bright there's the chance of getting blinded by reflection from a component. That's just one of the many things I like about this flashlight. A few other pros: -Uses standard AAA batteries (seems to have at least the stated run time) -Small (It's about the length of your average click pen and perhaps 50% thicker) -Light weight -Sturdy construction -Simple positive engagement push button (I dislike twisty lights) -Simple point and shine operation, no focusing ring to mess with -Comes with pocket clip (while the clip is sturdy and has a groove for it to sit in you can remove it if you desire. I don't recommend it as there will be nothing to stop the flash light from rolling away should you drop it or set it down on an uneven surface) Cons: -No eye for lanyard -No momentary operation (I tried, the end button is either on or off there's no slack) -Not really a con, more of a wish list item but it'd be nice if this came with some sort of "slip-on" filters, red/green perhaps. Overall this is great and I will be buying more.

Great EDC flashlight, though I wish it was rechargeable
Great for everyday carry, can get banged up and still works great Inspection beam is really cool, but has its weaknesses If you’re looking for the best, the Coast HP3R is a bit better, but this is a close second, and half the price

Great buy!
I have had for about 5 years, use daily. Metal just started to rust. Bright light. Easy to fit in tight spaces. Good battery life.

TLDR: Fantastic flashlight that's great for inspecting things. Great value, very durable, good brightness, and I have yet to change the batteries. I'd definitely buy it again. I bought this light as I do a lot of work on my car and motorcycle and wanted to have a pen style light around that I can use to have a closer look at things. After reading reviews I decided to grab it and see how it does. I am very impressed. My first time using it was while I was changing the tires on my car. I used it to take a look at my brake pads and see how much life they have left in them. It worked great. The directed beam really highlighted the area I was looking at and the brightness is pretty good. Given its small size it was easy to clip on and off of my belt to take a good look at things. Since then, its my go to while I'm working around my garage and I need to take a closer look at things. One thing I find it really useful for is finding small screws and bolts that I've dropped on my floor. I've dropped it, accidently smacked it with my foot, got it with carb clean and brake clean, and it still works fine. I also have yet to change the batteries. I'd definitely purchase this light again. I might even get one for my dad.

Great torch, especially for very focused lighting jobs. This replaced a similar torch that was about 8 years old. A quality product.
