EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE
The EverSewn Company offers outstanding customer service. As soon as the Sparrow arrived I put it to work on some curtains. I had some issues with the machine at high speeds. Karen at EverSewn called me to discuss my problem and she thought it sounded like an issue with the foot controller. I had a minor gripe about the needle threader as well. Karen said they would ship a new foot controller and needle threader. EverSewn's customer service reps are AWESOME, knowledgable, and take care of your issue on the spot without hassle. She advised me to call her back directly on her extension if I had any issues with the new foot controller.MACHINE PROS:Price--you get a lot of machine/features for your moneyPresser feet--additional presser feet are available at a reasonable price and the machine comes with a good selection of feetBobbins--generic bobbins (I got 72 for $9 on Amazon) work well in this machineAesthetics--the machine is beautiful, the packaging is really fun and retro, even the manual is attractive!Stitch Quality--beautiful even stitches, smooth machine--the stitch sample from the factory comes attachedStitch Type/Number--this machine has a great selection of decorative stitches and even a buttonhole that I have never seen before (keyhole style with a triangular end--it's very attractive)Manual--the manual is beautiful, comprehensive, and often gives the "why" behind the stepsThreading--easy to thread, it's very intuitive and the machine has diagrams printed directly on it to assistNeedle Positions--the machine has 15 needle positions (7 to the right of center and 7 to the left of center--0.5mm increments)Throat Plate--metric and Imperial markingsLightweight--the machine weighs 13 lbs. per my bathroom scaleQuiet machineCONS:Foot controller is the smaller style--I prefer the larger ones because they don't "get away" from youNeedle Threader--kind of tricky to operate, it may be operator error thoughNeedle Up/Down--This is one of my favorite features and I am unaccustomed to the quirks of this machine. When you set the needle in the down position you can raise the needle at the end of a seam with one definitive "pump" of the foot controller; however, when you do this the needle position is then reset to the up position. If you do not select the needle down position using the button on the machine you are sewing in the needle up position. You basically have to reset the needle position each time you finish a seam. I do not like this.Accessory Box--just an open box, no dedicated spaces for the included feetZebra Cords--One of the cords that plugs into the machine is white and the other is blackLight--The space to the right of the needle is not well litPresser Foot Availability--The machine has an excellent assortment of presser feet for quilters; however, I do not believe an invisible zipper foot is available for this machineStitch Card--The hard plastic reference card (it's an excellent card) does not have a pull out storage area at the bottom of the machineI still give this machine 5 stars. It is a joy to sew on. I may just need to get used to the peculiarities of the machine.
