A film worth watching that has some interesting ideas about government function in the US

Love this movie but did not expect it to be a cut version!

Demi Moore looks good and dances well, I thought, in the manner of 'Vegas strippers' everywhere but it, in no way, makes up for the hackneyed plot, the sub-par acting or the fact that the film doesn't seem to make up its mind whether it is a bona fide thriller or a comedy; mixing the two genres just doesn't work. Armand Assante can only be embarrassed about taking the job and Burt Reynolds is simply execrable; even Paul Guilfoyle doesn't come out of it with his integrity intact.The soundtrack is, however, worthy of mention; Billy Ocean, Booker T and the MGs, Annie Lennox. However, 'grooving' to 'Green Onion' does not make the bare nipples anything other than a distraction!The movie is very much of its time; when studio executives thought that wall-to-wall T & A would attract the 'punters'; like 'Striptease' it didn't!

This is a comedy people. It wasn't meant to win any Oscars for dramatic acting.Storyline is, a woman with a deadbeat ex is striving to get her daughter back as he has won custody. The only job she can get to get decent money for her legal defence is to become a stripper. Whilst she is a stripper she is 'approached' by a senator and a conspiracy revolves around that end of things.If you don't find such things as the Senator's aid being forced to go and get her lint out of a public washing machine, 2 big-boobed strippers playing keepy-uppy with a 8 year old girl or a stand-in snake (because the other one died) half strangling a stripper to death as she tries to keep it under raps to not put off the punters. Then you seriously need to lighten up!If this isn't enough for you. Excellent performances from Demi Moore, Burt Reynolds, Armand Assante, Ving Rhames and Robert Patrick. A extra special mention to her real life daughter who played Moore's character's daughter in the film Rumer Willis who i think did a sterling job.Add to this a fantastic musical score which i am suprised has gone unmentioned in other reviews...

Let's get this out of the way first, Striptease is not a great movie, it's not even a good one. What it is, is a bad movie that is fun to watch. The picture & sound quality on this Blu ray release are very good, though you don't get any extras except for a theatrical trailer. Demi Moore at the time of its release got some stick for her performance but I think it had more to do with the weak script / idea, what sort of movie did they think they were seeing. If you take it for what it is, a badly written comedy drama then you won't be surprised when you notice that you quite enjoyed watching it.

I actually like this film. Am I the only one? The music is good, the dance scenes are entertaining, and the story is quite good in my opinion. It’s an entertaining enough 2 hours for me. I’ve watched this film more than once too. Maybe this film is more popular in England. I remember seeing several videos of it sitting in Blockbuster for for a few months after it first came out.

This movie after all these years really is not that bad, its rather a fun romp, the story mainly is about a mother gaining custody of her daughter but with a few complications the mother is a stripper, the father is a drunken thief and she gets mixed up in a political scandal with a senator!! The movie delivers a few laughs along the way mainly from Ving Rhames, Demi Moore is fantastic as the lead and looks incredibly hot (especially when half naked) overall its a rather entertaining movie with cheesy performances but lashings of nudity to make up for it, the bluray picture quality is very good for a film made in 1996 and is uncut.
