The app is sketchy but it works
I'm on day 3 and this is working just fine so far. Setup and connection to the app was easy. The unit is found by a bluetooth connection and you have to then add your wifi details and create an account on their server (more about this later). The app itself keeps throwing errors and is organised in quite a cryptic manner whereby you set up the number of pots, and the number of watering pegs per each pot. Then separately on another page you set the time schedule window (?) and within each time window hidden away is the quantity in millilitres to water in total at that time. I have no idea why there needs to be a time window in the data schema but there it is. The instructions for the app are in the app itself (big question mark at the top) but are rather sketchy to say the least, so be prepared to solve a logic puzzle to understand the programmer's mind behind this oddity of an app. That said, once set up it works rather well (left alone). The app measures out the water pumped and since you provide the volume of your canister it will estimate the time remaining before the water can needs to be replenished. There's even a setting where you can calibrate the flow rate of the pump to have an accurate reckoning of watering days remaining to replenishment. My unit came with black tubing at about 2.5mm. The black should prove excellent since other pumps (I've had two) came with clear tubing which leads to algae and pump failure ultimately. Since the unit has no front panel all control is via the app. You can trigger water delivery manually from the app as well as on the timer if you wish to water remotely on your own schedule (maybe by remote viewing with a web cam?) One big unknown is whether the schedules will trigger in the absence of a connection to one's router. The whole system seems to be server based so somehow I doubt it. I will update once I find this out. I think I would only recommend this to someone who is fairly tech savvy since the app really lets it down. But for those nerds out there the app also offers quite a lot of flexibility once you get past the terrible UI design and lack of intuitiveness.
