3x Stabilo-All Pencils, Black (Black)

This is an amazing tool for getting just a little bit of darkness where you want it. It's amazingly pigmented, more than any of the watercolor pencils that I have. I wanted a way to add black line work into watercolor without using pen. This should bridge the gap. I love the way the wash looks like ink as well. I feel like it holds a point well so far and it's pretty creamy. It was worth the splurge

Now I understand why so many artists recommend this pencil. Once you add water, the pigment spreads beautifully and creates natural values without the need for multiple shades. I love how it allows me to achieve depth and softness effortlessly. It also gives my artwork a more abstract, expressive look as the water blends the lines. Truly a wonderful tool and a worthwhile investment for any art practice.

Does the job

It does exactly what it says, marks and stays on a variety of surfaces, but I do feels it’s too expensive for a pencil.

I’m just leaving this here in case it improves the way these are shipped. Two of the three pencils arrived with the tips snapped….the pencils are great and I will of course sharpen them and carry on. But also with my fingers crossed that the whole pencil is not cracked.

I ordered these to write on the backs of modern-era photos (the kind that have a plastic-y coating so that ordinary pens and pencils don't work). They work perfectly for this purpose. Mine arrived in good condition - no melting of the lead despite it being a 95 degree day. I do think it's odd they were just packaged in a bag, and I'm lucky the tips didn't break off (as some others have said their pencils did). So, 5 stars for the product, 3 stars for the packaging.
