exceptional for the price
I can tell you a dozen things that work better in other knives, but those knives are all double to 10x the price. For the price this is a great knife. The handle is a little less textured than I like (I dont think its g10) and the blade coating is not top of the line, and heck the blade is only D2. But for the size and price this thing is probably some of the best per dollar knife you can find anywhere. The action is smooth, the lock is secure, the blade stays sharp, no chipping, and the handle is grippy enough. I love this thing. I carry it more often than just about anything else. Were talking ZT's, frame lock emersons, spydercos, benchmades, etc. Its just a great combination of quality and size and price--it doesnt scare people though its not exactly a gentleman's folder.

Great Work Knife
Bought the knife on sale for $49 and it was the best investment I ever made. I had the knife for a year and used it to break down and cut up boxes at work. It was incredibly sharp too as I almost cut my pinky off with it one time. That was after I had it for about 8 months. If I hadn’t have lost it I would probably still be using it. Now the other guy can enjoy it. Loved the knife, would definitely recommend this knife for work. Great price, great knife and it never even misfired on me.

Good size, high quality
Good small size, but big enough to do what you need it for. I am a custom knife maker and bought this just because the company is allegedly going under. It’s an iconic knife company and I wanted to grab a piece before they are gone. High quality, pretty sharp (I sharpened mine razor sharp) comfortable and useful. You can’t go wrong with these. D2 is a great steel even though there are way more expensive alloys out there, you aren’t going to notice that much of a difference under normal use. That’s just reality.

Flawed Classic
What does flawed classic mean? Well, overall, I see why people consider the Rat a classic. It will absolutely cut things. For $40something it comes with D2 steel, which is pretty good for the price, very strong, tends to rust, but is protected by the coating. The coating will not last forever especially if used often. It's a great size for an EDC--and very light, in many ways comparable to my Delica (that costs twice as much). I absolutely get why people love the Rat. Its handle is fine and solid liners add to the solid feel of the knife without jacking weight too much...and with D2, you have yourself a solid knife tip to tail. One of the hiccups is the action...for the most part, it is very smooth and snaps into place nicely. But right at the opening, there's some pretty serious resistance that I don't think will work out over time. I'm learning to help with my fingers opposite the thumb stud I'm using. The other main hiccup is that it is a liner lock, and while it's great as liner locks go, that is a weakness you just don't get in most Benchmades or Spydercos. At price point, it's FINE, but not great. Also, there is absolutely some play where blade meets handle. Given the Rat's reputation, I didn't expect that. Wont affect much as long as you're not putting pressure directly on the flat of the blade TRYING to get it to bend, but...there it is. It's a $40 light little EDC--not my first choice if I'm camping or anywhere where I can use a knife larger than 3". I can't help but wonder if they've ever considered a collab with Spdyerco to put a hole opener on a Rat or Rat2. So yeah, classic, but flawed. If you're only buying ONE knife for edc, and don't want to drop too much, this is a good choice.

Great EDC knife
This is a great knife and super sharp out of the box. Open up easily and locks in place very well and stays centered.

Worth it.
Very smooth fold out, slim in the pocket, so I don’t really feel it there, comfortable. Narrow blade, comfortable to hold. The notch at the top of the handle really helps with grip.

Great little folder
As an owner of the RAT 1, I felt that it was just to heavy and bulky to be clipped in my front pants pocket. Enter the RAT 2. The Rat 2 is just the right size to be clipped in a front pocket. It is not bulky, it is light and it does not pull your pants down when clipped in your front pocket. Razor sharp right out of the box and the thumb stud assisted open is great. Very smooth when opening and closing. A great little folding pocket clip knife.

Excellent edc folder
I can't say much about the awesome Rat II that hasn't already been said, so I'll just add that I love this little pocket knife and carry it often. Great fit for my longish thin women's hands, but small enough to fit in most of the dinky pockets on my women's jeans. Smooth and snappy, and for the price, quality, and the D2 steel it's hard to beat. My only complaint is that the jimping on the lock is rough on my thumbnail.
