Works for me
I have several very old Dell XP laptops that do math problems over the winter (when their heat isn't a problem but a plus), whose display stays lit regardless of screen turn-off times. Inserting these guys in the VGA port and hitting fn/f8 a couple of times puts the image only in the ghost display, saving the laptop display light lifetime very nicely.The alternative is closing the laptop lid, but that affects cooling adversely.Plug and play (no need to turn machine off) seems to work.
