What does 0 - 85% brix mean on the specifications? They have another model that does 0 - 50%. Thanks for any insight!

Just looked at mine. The 0 to 85% Brix is the RANGE of Brix that this refractometer measures of sucrose. I use mine when making maple and birch syrup. Buy a few pipetts and have some steam distilled water on hand (not just osmosis water) to calibrate it. Great tool.

How does this product compare to the Atago 3810 refractometer?

Obviously the price difference for starters, the milwaukee unit also uses a 9 volt battery versus the latter of AAA. i hjave used the milwaukee unit many times and had very little issues. The only downside to this unit is that you need to keep fresh 9 volt batteries on hand. it does use alot of battery power.
