A 65w light from another dimension
This light is from another dimension. The laws of physics do not seem to apply here.So with 65W we are getting a blindingly bright horticultural light??Impossible.Or is it?Perspective :Let's look at another light. a Mars 300. The Mars marketing implies this will replace a 300w HID.I run HID lights up to and at 1000w so I know roughly how bright they are by plant response or behavior. A Mars 300 isn't quite that bright, but it is impressive for it's 130W actual power draw... for outdated technology it was impressive. The data that I have:I got 15000 lux (spoon of salt I don't have a PAR meter) at seedling top (12 inches) with my Mars 300. a spread of 2x2'As I mentioned the laws of physics do not seem to apply here, because I am getting 20,000 lux at seedling height with this quantum board!!65w.So half the power of the Mars, another LED mind, and what is that, 25% brighter? If someone would have tried to have me believe they could have comparable light quantity and improved quality of a 300W HID I wouldn't have believed it......until now that is, so if you're reading this wondering if 65w is a misprint or that it won't cover a 2x2 for veg, put your mind at ease this little light can do it.I can't wait to replace my flower light with an HLG550. I truly believe the claims now without a doubt. Im ready to kick that electricity sucking, heater, 1KW outta here boy!I don't have a par meter so I don't really know if the Mars 300 puts out more light in the UV or IR spectrum that I'm just not aware of, so that would make it more on PAR (pun intended) with the Mars lights but based on the Samsung top bin diodes reviews I would much rather have these quality wise also.

Home Orchid Growers Dream Lights!
UPDATE! A year or more on and my orchids are flourishing. Still highly reccomend these for even low light plants as long as you buy the dimmer!Love this light for my high light orchids. I wish it came in a 5000k version to better suit blooming AND leaf growing, but 4000k will do just fine with some added real daylight. One gripe is that the connection ports are very delicate. I broke one off and im generally very gentle with things. The second port is wobbly but working for the time being. Ill have to solder them back on eventually.Otherwise, these lights are friggin bright- videos and photos do not capture the blinding light at all. I have this light 8in from my orchid now and Ive ordered the dimmer in case I get any leaf yellowing (they seem super bright- which is excellent). Should be ok 8in from plant since there is minimal heat, but always watch your plants and adjust accordingly. Its also just great light to look at unlike other options. It really makes my planting area and decorative pots pop!I realize these were produced for growing erm... herbal remedies.... but they totally need to market more for orchid growers. So slim and unobtrusive for lighting areas you still want to look presentable and not totally kill the vibe of your home decor.Ill be ordering 5 more eventually to cover all my shelves.👌🏻💯😍📸Update: Ive been researching more into PAR of light and have discovered that this 4000k version actually suits my orchids very well as far as useable temperatures of light goes. Very pleased with it besides the connection port being so delicate. Ive already purchased another plus a dimmer for each. Only time will tell how my orchids do under these but I dont doubt they will flourish!

Amazing substitute lighting! Can be exclusive lighting if you take the right steps.
When using LEDs, don't miss where it says"For best results it is recommended to maintain temperature of grow room at 78° F - 85° F"ESPECIALLY for the devils lettuce. These lights produce nearly ZERO heat. If your house is 68-70° F, max it'll get a tent up to is like 74-75 without supplemental heating. In a room, they wont affect the temp at all. If you do not take into consideration getting your air temps to 78° F MINIMUM, you'll be chasing all types of issues that look like nutrients, pH imbalances and everything in-between. Reason is, since they produce no heat, the surface temps of your girls will be too low and cause discoloration, and prevent your soil from drying, disturbing the root system. If you use this light, MAKE SURE you get your grow space to 80° F because 78 is just the minimum to ensure your plant surface temps are acceptable.

Perfect light at a great price for cloning & propagation in a 2'x2'x4' tent!
This is a great light for the price. I own other lights from HLG and the quality has always been top notch!I used this in a 2'x2'x4' tall tent to start some clones, and I also started a couple of seedlings a couple of weeks later. The seedlings took off within aa couple of days, and they are starting perfectly. No stretch, or signs of light burn, which are both issues I have experienced using other "Propagation" lights.I have used an Apogee Instruments Quantum PAR Meter to check PPFD, and at 18 inches away the PPFD was right at 150 which is perfect for this application! It is also right inline with HLG's claims. If you are looking for the cheapest light you can find, this may not be it, but if you can afford $100 I would definitely recommend buying this light. If you can't afford it, I recommend saving until you can. Life has taught me buying cheap is almost always the most expensive option in the long run!
