Sowas habe ich schon immer gesucht: vernünftiges Format (Ringbuch passt auf den Notenständer) Tabs meist noch groß genug gedruckt um sie gut lesen zu können. Sehr schöne Licks aus allen Rockstyles, klasse aufgenommen mit passendem Backing. Habe mir die Licks aufs smartphone geschaufelt und kann sie so mit ner App. auch verlangsamt abspielen. Gute Tipps zu jedem Lick. Die Licks selber sind klasse ausgewählt es wird wirlich der Kern des jeweiligen Gitarrenheros getroffen. Der Therorie ist ein nettes add on sogar sehr gut gemacht, auch wenn dass nicht der Kaufgrund war, sondern 100 gute kurze Licks die mir nicht ständig vom Notenständer fallen. Und die ich nicht verlegen kann. Bisher das beste Übungswerk das ich gefunden habe.

This book and others in the series make a great index for improvisation. I noticed that some people in the comments section squaked about a lack of examples in these books (only 100) or the simplicity of the examples. I'm not the greatest of musicians and I only play musical instruments and percussion for my own amusement, but let me recommend something anyway. This applies to any music book you may buy. Choose an excercise for the day. In a 15 to 30 minute session, how many variations can you come up with just improvising? In how many time signatures can you make these variations work? Rock, blues, country, eastern style scales? Record yourself and harmonize or solo over the music you laid down. Think up more ideas like these (I'd like to hear them at this post). And always record your improvising. Sometimes you amaze yourself when you listen the next day and have to figure out what you did the night before. Remember, this is supposed to be fun. Later.

I have both the blues and the rock versions of this loose ring binder book and love them both. What they do that others fall short on is: First, they are small and open up and sit flat so you can see what the F you are looking at; try that with the other books! Second, they are Riff books only, but give you a very good feel for the song/songs (Like green onions) that they come from. Third, the accompanying CD is very easy to understand and locate the Riff portion you are looking for as long as your CD player has a digital read out (which most do). I would recommend both of these books for anyone just getting into playing, or someone that just wants to research different styles of playing without spending the next 6 months on one subject.
