This was my first time using a video doorbell, and I was initially worried about the wiring. But the setup was surprisingly simple, thanks to the step-by-step guide in the app. I was also pleased to discover that my old mechanical chime continues to function with the ecobee doorbell camera after installing the included chime adapter—it was a nice touch! The video quality is excellent, and the wide field of view provides a great look at my porch. I also appreciate the motion detection range adjustment in the app, which allows me to customize what gets detected, reducing unnecessary alerts. One of my favourite features is the integration with the thermostat. I didn’t expect to use it much, but I love that I can quickly glance at my thermostat to see who’s at the door when the bell rings. Overall, this doorbell camera has exceeded my expectations. It’s user-friendly, reliable, and packed with useful features. Highly recommend!

This doorbell camera works very well. Compared to a Ring, the field of view is wider. In the Ecobee smartphone app the recording are excellent and easy to access. In two different homes, we simply replaced the existing doorbell button switch with this. It includes what they call a chime adapter, a little box that goes in the doorbell chime box on the wall. The setup steps are in the phone app, and they are thorough and detailed. I like these a lot.That I wish was different: while it works to stream live video at Apple Home, it won't show its recordings in Home. Not yet! Hopefully they might update it to allow that, by supporting what is called HSV (Homekit Secure Video).I can't speak to how it works with the Amazon and Google smart home systems.When we needed phone support, it was available (once we found Ecobee's phone number which was a challenge :-))

This doorbell cam has crisp video, smart alerts, and just enough sass to make me feel like a secret agent. Setup was a breeze, and now I get real-time updates every time a package arrives or a squirrel gets too bold.Pairs perfectly with my ecobee system, and yes—night vision is chef’s kiss. Bonus: I can judge who’s knocking before I commit to putting on pants.

The media could not be loaded. I live in the South and have this doorbell installed under an overhang. Since installing it in mid-April, I noticed the doorbell gets very hot to the touch — even the mounting screws were hot when I removed it.I had a licensed electrician inspect it. The transformer was fine, but he confirmed the doorbell unit itself should not be this hot. Ecobee support told me it’s “normal” and asked me to take a temperature reading above 113°F before calling them back — but I don’t feel comfortable waiting for a fire hazard just to meet a threshold.I love the recording and features, but the excessive heat makes me worry about safety. I shouldn’t have to worry about my doorbell catching fire. I’ll now try to get a temperature reading and reinstall, but this is not acceptable for a smart home product.Update: After spending extra money on an infrared thermometer- I would say Ecobee’s max temperature of 113 degrees exceeds (see picture and video - which was fun to do one handed), calling Ecobee support on my case.

Once set up, the motion alerts are fast and pretty accurate. I also like the smart detection feature that distinguishes between people, animals, and packages.The app is user-friendly, and I appreciate being able to view my front door from anywhere, especially when I’m traveling. Two-way audio is clear, though there’s a slight delay sometimes.One downside is that it requires a subscription for full video history, which is a bit of a bummer, but pretty standard these days. Still, the peace of mind and connectivity it adds to my smart home setup is worth it. Definitely recommend it if you want a reliable wired doorbell cam.

Easy to install and easy to connect to the Ecobee app. Excellent, high quality HD view. Live view does not require subscription. Several different alert settings if you want to pay for the subscription plan which is about $10 a month. Very happy with this purchase. Mine came with a 15⁰ wedge.
