Can't Download Driver Software
Can't install the windows driver on windows 11. When you click the link to download the driver in the Waveshare Wiki it doesn't work. I even tried to "Save link as" but that didn't work either.

Working great.
Software and hardware works great receiving data. Make sure to download the correct drivers and software on their website.

does not work, useless.
I got the driver and software installed, despite crappy half-chinese manual. When I tried loopback test, I could transmit but not receive. no drivers or libraries to allow use outside the broken test app.

Could not get it to work.
Could get it to communicate with sensor

Learning about CAN
CAN (car area network) is a fascinating technology that you really need to learn for automotive applications. Got this so I could experiment with my pc instead of constantly reflashing a microcontroller.

Did not come with any instructions, no software, no drivers nothing!!! No examples like described in the description.

Good as a diagnostics tool
Good for learning CAN for industrial or automotive applications. This is my first CAN FD analyzer, which was perfect since some of the platforms I use have shifted to that recently. You need to set aside some time to set it up and learn how to use it, but that was relatively pain free.

If you need a turnkey tool for both RX and TX with fine-grained timing, you may find this solution too restrictive. ✅ Pros: Robust hardware design: Sturdy build, stable USB connection, and reliable CAN transceivers handle busy networks without dropouts Accurate monitoring & logging: High sample rates and timestamp precision ensure complete, lossless CAN message capture Multi-channel support: Three independent CAN ports let you bridge, monitor, or log multiple buses simultaneously Simple CSV import: Quick way to bulk-load transmit frames if you only need static, one-off message dumps ❌ Cons: Limited emission controls: Can only configure a single message per session; no GUI option to set individual message periods or sequences No BusMaster driver support: Incompatible with popular open-source tools like CAN BusMaster, restricting your software choices Reliance on native API: Full transmit sequencing demands custom application development—offering more work than most users expect Cumbersome workflow: Every change to transmitted data requires regenerating or editing a CSV, then reloading the device

With the help of the Waveshare site's wiki set up was easy, as was learning to use their tool. I usually use PulseView with logic analyzers but the waveshare software was well designed enough to accomplish any task I could think of. Capture, replay, send test data, filter out known signals so you can instigate and isolate a new one--it's easier to learn a piece of hardware's protocol through the CANFD Tool than it would have been in PulseView. I didn't need to add resistors, but it's nice to see they made it easy to do so. I've had to debug i2c on PCBs where finding a place to cut a trace and add resistors was necessary. I much prefer the dip switches. Price is reasonable for industrial customers. I've paid more for the overseas shipping on some test equipment.
