Innocent Omnibus Volume 2 Review: A paradigm-shifting, once-in-a-generation masterwork - It's hard to improve upon perfection, but the second volume of Innocent raises the benchmark for this series, and for manga in general. While still focusing largely on Charles-Henri (and finishing up what began in the last chapter of volume one), this volume introduces Charles' younger sister, Marie-Joseph, and develops the bond between the two of them. The family life of the Sansons is tumultuous and tormenting at times, but seen through the lens of Charles and Marie, both of whom grow in different ways in the volume, we are introduced to some genuinely tender moments. However, being the series this is, those touching moments are fleeting and punctuated with a lot of bloodshed and barbarism. There are specific scenes and shots are incredibly moving and noteworthy. It's truly inspired storytelling and artwork, and the translation is exceptional. This volume shattered all expectations for the series, and I can't wait for the third volume. Review: Beautiful - I'm sure that if you are considering volume 2 of Innocent, you have already read volume 1 and understand what you are going into. Keep going! It's very worth it.

Stunning
This novel was wonderful, I found myself pausing often to stare at the artwork, Marie Sanson’s character design is breathtaking. There was such majesty in the pages that it makes the gore palpably purposeful. I appreciate that the author made this shocking because that was how society was in pre-revolutionary France. If you are someone who enjoys historical drama mixed with gore, you will enjoy this. One thing I do wish is that this was printed as a hardcover, the art sometimes flows into the center of the book. It is disappointing.

I love this series
Just when I thought things couldn't be more shocking than the first book, I was pleasantly proven wrong. Things move in just the right pace, and I really enjoy watching things pan out. The quality of the book is amazing, too!
