I initially really like this product. Good value for money, smart design, but for some reason I have found that after a couple of months they seem to lose connection and have to be deleted and re-added to the smart home. This has happened a few times and I'm not sure why. One is in the same room is the Smart hub and router, and the other is next door. Hence I would not buy these again.

These onvis plugs are good value matter over thread plugs. I have a home assistant set up on a raspberry pi with skyconnect dongle which has matter over thread in theory. I wanted to buy some devices to test the matter over thread compatability. I could not get the home assistant to directly connect (that is more to do with my home assistant setup) but I decided to use my amazon echo 4, which also has matter over thread. It worked straight away with no issues so I am very happy. I could even then link to my Home assistant by getting the alexa app to create its own matter code for onward linking that device to other smart ecosystems - again no problems doiing this. The plug itself is a reasonable size (significantly smaller than the Eve matter over thread plugs), has a reliable connection and has good power passthrough capacity.

I think I have had 3 different smart plug brands over the years - all of which have had horrible connection problems and constantly needed re-booting (Wemo - are you hearing me?!?). When I saw that apple were going to support matter and thread - I thought I'd find some new plugs that support that too. Enter these Onivs plugs - dead easy to add to my apple homekit (unlike some other brands!). Worked right away, and have been rock solid. I even have 2 of them in a waterproof box outside and they are fine too - even when it's below freezing outside. I've no idea what the spec of the plugs says the min temp is, but I've had no issue. I must say that I was a bit wary at first because these were really quite affordable. I've made the mistake of getting cheap plugs in the past and they were a nightmare! I'm definitely going to be picking more up in the future, and will also look for other thread supported devices too - I'm now a big fan.

So yes these plugs are slightly more expensive than their Wi-Fi counterparts, but having them work over thread and not hammering my Wi-Fi setup with extra devices is well worth it. I've bought 12 of these plugs, and they're working flawlessly in HomeKit. Setup was a breeze with no issues at all. Also as these work as thread routers they provide extra stability and reach on your thread network. Would it be nice to have power monitoring maybe, but honestly I've never really bothered with that on plugs that do support it. I've even reached out to Onvis to find out if they will be releasing a power strip in the future and the answer was potentially yes closer to the end of the year. So my Wi-Fi network is 12 plugs shy taking up IP addresses. Great product

Communication with device is not working.

This plug looks great. it is probably one of the rarest plugs that support matter of thread so far I have no issues with it.
