Better hand ergonomics
Purchased June 2025. MUCH better to grip than the other Olfa 1 inch (25mm) knife, the H-1. Even if you have smaller hands, it's better, trust me, I own both. It's not cheap at $20US. If you're doing fine work, like upholstering a car stereo speaker pod or something delicate requiring exacting or tiny, precise cuts don't use an Olfa, get Heavy Duty single sided razor blades for finesse work, use this Olfa when you've got to put some muscle into it & you need the rapid blade snap-off feature to get a fresh tip on the fly. Wear safety glasses when snapping off a section.

¡Wow!
Excellent product. Excellent price. Highly recommended. Easy to handle and excellent lock mechanism. Be careful its blade is very, very, very sharp.

This is not your typical box cutter…
Wow! I have seen a couple of people on youtube use a “box cutter” before, but sort of laughed. Who in their right mind would try to cut drywall with a dime store box cutter…First, this is a tool - not what I am used to seeing at all. I have a very dim view of box cutters after the blade snapped on one unused years ago and almost cut me badly enough for stitches. I relative died and I found the above typical box cutter in their shop. I kept it around, but didn’t use it.I decided to try the olfa knife primarily because I knew ai could return it. I never dreamed that it would become a permanent fixture in my pocket. This again is not a cheap piece of plastic, it has body and weight. The blades (besides looking really cool) are stout. Besides being wider, they are also more like what you would expect to have in a razor knife. I have waited until after i had given this knife a real work out to write my review. So far I have not broken a blade - even though a couple of times I had at least 4 section exposed. The knife is also somewhat ergonomic. Typically when I have worked with my hands all day, they begin to ache - when something doesn’t ache - it tells me it feels right. I could see this knife being used all day without a problem.I feel stupid because for two or three years, I have scoffed at people I have watched using these. Well, I plan to have more of an open mind when it comes to tools and techniques. The older I get, the more I appreciate good tools and despise cheap tools - this tool is not only a keeper, but I bought a second one to leave in my shop. I am sold!

A great work knife.
I bought this to augment my snap knife usage. I've had a medium Olfa knife for over 20 years now. We've been through some things together. I unexpectedly ended up with a cache of 25mm blades, which don't fit in my old 18mm knife. So, I felt it was necessary to pick up this larger version of my faithful old friend. It works well. Needs a little break in time. First use was on several cardboard boxes destined for recycling. It is easy to use. Gave me a little extra leverage.I feel that Olfa makes some of the best snap knives on the market, if not the best.

Great to have extra rubber for grip, but it's HUGE compared to older units.
I have two Olfa utility knives (one from '97 and one from maybe '07) and they are terrific. However, they are both the all-yellow, no rubber models, and over the years there are times when I wished that they weren't smooth and slippery. When I lost the blade sharpener for one of them, I ordered this model as a replacement and liked the rubber. The black rubber is very grippy and while i knew it would feel larger, I was surprised by just how bulky this it. I'm not criticizing it, just suggesting that you check and make sure you want one this bulky a handle.

Nice knife from good Japanese brand.
Exactly as expected. Have bought several knives from this brand before. This is a standard snap off type blade which has many segments. Highly recommend anything from this Japanese company.

Best knife for Drywall work
I bought this knife for doing drywall work, as the blade gets dulled so quickly. Being able to snap off the end and get a new point was a big time and frustration saver!
