Bondtech Mini Wanhao i3 Upgrade Kit

I’ve had very good luck with this extruder. It has increased my print speed, quality, and reliability on my Wanhao Duplicator i3 Plus. Note: this extruder seems much more efficient than the stock extruder and you should tune the extrusion multiplier first thing. There are good guides on how to do this, a micrometer is required. I ended up changing my extrusion multiplier from .94 (default) to .65 and I am now having beautiful prints. Also, on the i3, you will lose X build volume because the bondtech is much wider than the OEN extruder and the motor will hit the frame. This can be remediated by getting a new smaller motor. Search for “slimline” stepper motor. I was able to gain Z height because the bondtech puts the filament going into the extruder in front of the top frame instead of behind it. No more large print jobs failing due to extruder issues!

This Extruder is as good as they say. Instructions need some work for us newbies. Mainly the part about changing the E Steps. FAQ has a newbie friendly way to change it using an sd card.
