Fantastic value for the price. Works great with standard 18650 cells.
These are great. I'm seriously impressed. The build quality is pretty good - certainly above average when you compare to the usual cheap three AAA flashlights. The aluminum feels solid and the machining is pretty good - the threads for the battery aren't perfect but they're a lot smoother and better than most. Certainly for how inexpensive these are, these are way better made than you would expect. Even the AAA holder cartridge is well made, solid contacts, and works really well. The switches click firmly and work reliably from the fiddling I've done so far. Obviously time will tell how well they hold up, but first impressions are good. I love the fact that these have two modes - on... and off. No super dim/blindingly overbright/disco inferno modes, just on - and off. They operate exactly how everyone on the planet expects a flashlight to work. Brilliant. I love it. The focusing mechanism is pretty smart. Sure, you can rotate it to slowly focus in and out, or you can just push and pull it and slide it up and down smoothly. It works well - I tend not to need focusing but it's nice to have and well implemented. They run great on NiMH AAAs, but the real reason I wanted these was that they can also use standard 18650 cells. Obviously you need a standalone battery charger, but, this means you can take advantage of the high power density and long life of li-ion batteries. And 18650's are so ubiquitous. I break apart old junk laptop batteries, frequently some of the cells are perfectly good - and a flashlight like this is the perfect application for a maybe kind of used/old battery. I took some cells salvaged from a decade old dead laptop battery and loaded a couple of these flashlights up with them - works perfectly. Nice and bright and the capacity will be a lot better than AAAs - even an old used worn cell like I'm using is about double the capacity of your average NiMH or alkaline AAA. So yeah - flexible, inexpensive, pretty well made, nice and bright - perfect. A great value for the price. Love it. I'm probably going to buy some more of these. It's always nice to have a flashlight handy - a proper one, that's bright and useful unlike the tiny thing on your phone - and these are cheap enough you can keep one everywhere.

Simple but Nice Robust Flashlight
I bought a quantity of six of these flashlights. They are very easy and simple to use. The on/off soft button is located on the butt end of the flashlight and is operated by pushing it inward and then letting it go. The width of the beam is controlled by sliding the front part of the light, which includes the lens and its housing, forward and aft. Most aft is the widest beam and most forward is the narrowest beam. The most aft setting gives floodlight illumination while the most forward is more focused and shines the light the greatest distance. The flashlight also comes with a lanyard so it can be hung on something. Battery insertion is accomplished by simply unscrewing the aft end of the light which holds the rear push switch housing, placing the batteries inside, then attaching the switch housing by screwing it back into the rear of the flashlight. Choice of batteries is two fold. First, the flashlights come with a AAA three cell plastic holder inside them. Inserting three AAA batteries into the holder and then inserting the holder into the back of the flashlight allows it to be powered by these style of batteries. The second type of battery that can be used is a single rechargeable 18650 lithium ion cell. Before putting the 18650 battery into the light, one of the plastic collars that are included inside the packaging that the flashlights come in, must be slid into the rear of each flashlight before the 18650 battery is inserted. These collars cause the 18650 batteries to be centered inside the flashlight because the diameter of the battery is slightly smaller than the interior diameter of the flashlight tube housing. Having just received them, I can't speak about long term reliability. Although I must say they seem robust in their design and manufacture. I would say that I really like the ease and simplicity of use, very nice quality of construction, and economy of these small but very bright hand held flashlights.

Excellent flashlights at a bargain price
I've paid over $15 for one similar flashlight, so 6 for $20 was such a low price I expected poor quality or dim light., but I got 6 excellent flashlights. I had unused 18650 batteries on hand so I loaded each flashlight and they all tested good. The build quality is good, they zoom well, at the fully wide setting the light is even without a brighter spot in the center. I'm very pleased with these. The light is plenty bright and having only two options, on or off, is much nicer than silly 5 mode flashlights.

Nice and bright
If you have a whole bunch of 18650s lying around this is the perfect use for those batteries. My only complaint is that they are fragile and if you drop them you may have the lens pop out.

Single Mode.
This review is for the HinsGear 1 Mode four pack tactical flashlight at $14.99. I seldom write reviews, but feel compelled to do so in this case. I have searched for years for a flashlight that just turns ON and OFF. No High, No Low, No Flash, No SOS. While this may be great for some folks, I use my light for work and just need it to illuminate whatever I am working on without having to cycle through all those modes. Operating on three AAA batteries it is small enough for me to carry in my pocket. The flashlights come with sleeves to allow use of the Lithium 14500 battery. I prefer rechargeable and will be trying them with the 14500. I can't address the lumins as I have no way of measuring the output. I can say that with the zoom feature they are more than adequate for my work on large over the road vehicles. I like the end cap switch as there is no hunting for the switch and in my experience is much more reliable then side mounted switches. At $14.99 for the four pack thiis is a deal that can't be beat. The only caveate is that I just got these so I cannot address longevity. From what I have seen so far I do expect them to last a very longtime. 2025-07-18_Update. I was incorrect in saying the sleeve that comes with the HinsGear flashlight adapts to the Lithium 14500 3.7 volt battery. The sleeve does work with the 18650 3.7 volt Lithium rechageable battery.

Awesome flashlights for the money
I wasn't expecting much for the price, but I'm very pleased with these. The quality seems good, the end cap threads on nicely and the focus slider moves smoothly, and stays where you put it. The on/off button clicks nicely. I LOVE that these are single mode lights - no clicking through dim settings or stupid strobe mode. These come with both a cartridge for 3 AAA batteries and a sleeve for an 18650 rechargeable battery, and they work well with either (NO BATTERIES INCLUDED). The only odd thing is that in focused mode you can see a distinct image of the LED array (shown in the photos.) I don't use focus mode much so this isn't an issue for me, but be aware of it. But overall I love that these are single mode and have very good light output for the cost.
