Really solid little flashlight, great customer service
I have carried a flashlight daily for over 20 years now, and have amassed quite a collection of them as newer and better ones came out. This little flashlight is great. I have several flashlights with more features, but sometimes that can be a bad thing if you just need some light.Because this light uses a twist switch, it is very small indeed, smaller than my first ever AAA sized light in fact.It has just three modes; low, medium and high - all the modes you really need in a small light, and nothing more. The light does not have a memory feature, so it always starts off in low mode.I strongly prefer not to have a mode memory, in fact I try to avoid this feature when choosing a new flashlight. There's nothing worse than switching on your light expecting low mode, only to be blinded because you happened to have it on in high mode last time you used it.I got the neutral white tint, and it really is lovely. There are no unwanted rings or other artifacts in the beam. The three modes are well-spaced, and the high mode is very bright indeed for such a small light. One big advantage of this particular model is that it can use either regular AA batteries (primary or rechargeable) or a 14500 lithium ion cell. The higher power of the 14500 gives you a lot of output in a small package, but you still have the flexibility of being able to use common AA batteries, which are available everywhere. The only downside to this is that it is not possible to have a built-in charging feature on the light itself, but that is fine, because the supplied battery has a USB C charging port built into it.This light is essentially the perfect EDC flashlight; small size, good output, sensible modes, rechargeable, and able to use a wide variety of power sources.I had a customer service query (nothing wrong with the light, just dumb user error) and ThruNite responded quickly and resolved the issue immediately.

Small, Useful, Bright, Expensive
UPDATE: Below this updated review is my original review............Before I go on I'd like to say that I've up'd the rating to 5 star from a 3 star. The reason being is that I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT THIS THING!!!!I never realized how much I would use a pocket flashlight. I purchased this in Feb 2016, it's now Nov. and I've come to love this tiny little pocket light. It's amazing how much light and life you can get out of a AAA battery and how bright it can be. The issues I had in the beginning are somewhat still there but, hardly matter anymore. A pushbutton might be better but I'm now used to twisting it and it's easier than it was when new. The intensity of the light depends greatly on the battery power. Even though the battery last a long long time, a weak battery gives you a weak output. I normally use the low setting now instead of the high, mainly to save battery but also because it still has plenty of light. I only use high when I need some SUN. I've even used the Firefly setting when I've needed just enough light to see something close but not disturb anyone. Also, I had taken one star off because of the cost. Now the light sells for about $4 less. That helps. If I really needed a pushbutton I would buy one with a pushbutton. I have grown to love my ThruNite Ti3 and use it all the time. It is so small it became a normal part of my pocket stuff and I carry it like I do my pocket knife. You won't regret buying this light............................................1st Review:Since I'm not an expert on miniature flashlights, and I haven't tried any others this small, I can only tell you my personal feelings about this ThruNite Ti3. It has 3 settings, excuse me, 4 settings. The reason I think of only 3 settings is because the Firefly setting is just about what it says, FIREFLY. If you know how much light a firefly puts out, you get the picture. It's worthless to me but, to someone else it might be just the thing. For what, I have no clue since I can put it to my eye and it wouldn't bother me. The other settings include Low, High, and Strobe. So far I mostly use the High setting. I'm not sure I'll ever use the strobe but you never know. I love that it only takes one AAA battery and is not much bigger than that. I carry it in my pocket. The clip I don't use now but, you can clip it to your pocket or reverse the clip and put it on you cap. For others you can hold it in your mouth if the need arises. It seems well constructed so I'm hoping for a long life. The thing I don't like the most is the "switching" of the light. They describe it like this, "Convenient twist switch design for better one handed operation". What? Twisting is easier one handed than a push button??? Not my Hulk hands! In my case a button would be better. Also, when "switching" between settings, it starts with Firefly, then Low, and finally High and followed by Strobe. That's a lot of switching (turning back and forth) before getting to the High setting. To me it should be High, Low, Firefly, and then Strobe. I think I understand the reasoning of why they did it that way but, personally I'd rather have it my own way. Too bad you can't program it yourself. Hint Hint if you're reading this....... Also, the main reason for 3 stars is that I personally believe this flashlight could be sold for much less. Cheaper would have brought 4 stars. A button would have brought 5 stars. Figure it out.

Plenty bright, but kind of fiddly and not pleasant to handle
This light works fine, but it does have some quirks, mostly down to my personal preferences. The twist-action to turn the light on and off is overly stiff. I realize it needs to be stiff to prevent accidental operation, but it's a little stiffer than it needs to be. It also occasionally glitches and does not return to lowest-level lighting after a minute or so being off, or flashes full-bright as the switch is being turned off. All this convinces me that I am not a fan of this style of on-off switch and probably would have been better served with a button-activated light. With those gripes out of the way, I do appreciate the light's small size and the provided clip--makes it very easy to take along with me. The construction is solid and I believe it will be durable over the long haul...provided the twisting part doesn't wear out or continue to glitch. I love the included rechargeable battery with the built in charging indicator. And the light this thing produces at medium and high settings is truly amazing for something its size. For the money, this is probably very hard to beat. I'm just not a fan of the power switch.
