I'm not quite sure what made other reviewers think this product uses LEDs, this rope light uses standard incandescent bulbs, emitting a nice, warm yellowish light. And the rope itself gets a bit warm, but don't fear, the plastic housing is lead-doped plastic and is quite heat proof. Yeah, seeing the warning that came with it about washing your hands after handling because of the lead content made me think twice about putting it up in a toddler's bedroom.But all in all, it's a good product. They do make LED rope lights, but this one is not one of those.-James
