X431 Pros V +5.0 Elite
This scanner is one of the best machines I’ve seen in the price range. It is not a simple code reader, but a full on scan tool. The size is nice and compact. It is fast, and took very little time to set up. After being updated, the tool was ready to try out. The data stream works flawlessly, and it has a ton of bidirectional features which many tools lack. There is no lag, and for such an inexpensive tool, I cannot say enough good about it. If you are in the market for a pro level tool, this one should absolutely be in the running! Love it!

Capable tool, lots of features.
This product is quite capable. It has many functions and features. Not only can it read all on board computers/modules on a vehicle but has programming abilities. Even for personal use it wouldn’t take long to recoup your cost with the price of diagnostics these days at shops. Defiantly good enough to be used by shops as well.

Excellent product
I used this tool several times. Overall it is an excellent tool with outstanding functionality. It performs many tasks that Snap-On and Autel can’t handle, which can be critical in certain situations. For instance, I recently replaced the HVAC module on an F-150, which required a PMI process. Autel failed to support it, but the Launch device completed it effortlessly—saving us both time and programming costs.

Awesome tool at a terrific price
This is quite the handy tool to have for both professional and DIY tasks. It's intuitive features allows the user to perform many tasks that shops and dealerships would charge for, saving BIG money in the long run. So far, I've used it to manually turn on an AC compressor so it'll take a charge, actuate a door lock to identify a faulty switch, read fault codes on various makes and models, and perform a battery reset on a Volkswagen. So far so good, easy to use and never has a hiccup. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is mechanically minded.

Great for the money
I have tried the FCA auto auto and the scan tool works well with it. In the future I would like to expand its capability and purchase the oscilloscope.

Best overall diagnostic tool out there
This Launch x431 Pros V+ exceeded my expectations. Vehicle coverage is more than I expected. Covers Asian, European. High end vehicle's like Lamborghini, Ferrari. Vehicles I have never heard of. It was relatively easy to set up. And for the price you just can't go wrong. I have used this tool to scan BMW, Toyota and Honda just to name a few and has had zero issues doing so. I have done live data tests and performed numerous functions such as oil reset, abs bleeding and calibrations for the steering angle. Tool is small and very portable and battery life is beyond excellent. Processor is quick and does not stutter or lag in anyway. Really really love this tool and would recommend to anyone!!!

Stop! Don’t Do It! There’s better out there!
Only one star because I can’t give quarter stars. The product itself may be a decent product, but the compatibility with my vehicle isn’t. The company, Launch, is very vague about whether or not it would work. When it didn’t, the company continually shifts blame and responsibility back to the seller,Amazon. Amazon says contact the seller, Launch says that I didn’t buy it from them, so I have to go through the seller, Amazon. And round and round the denial process goes with Launch. It makes me wonder if product sales are slow enough that they CAN’T give a refund for return because EVERY sale keeps them afloat.Either way, I would look at more reputable and well known software companies than these chuckleheads!!

It has a lot of pros vs little cons
Let’s start with the cons. The first issue is that automatic VIN reading didn’t work on any of the cars I tested. If I used Intelligent Diagnostic, I had to manually enter the VIN. It would only pull the VIN when I ran a Local Diagnostic, and even then, I still had to input the make and other details. To say I’m a little disappointed is an understatement. I have a $100 scanner that automatically pulls this information, so for an $800 scanner, you’d expect it to have that capability. Now, let’s get into the pros. The report it generates looks very professional, making it easy to email or text to clients. It provides a ton of information, runs quickly, and has amazing battery life. I’m comparing this to the Oto D1 Lite, but that’s not really an apples-to-apples comparison—this scanner blows it out of the water in terms of performance, features, and battery life. The bi-directional controls worked well with no issues; everything seemed spot on. It did lack features on older cars, but I’d probably need OEM tools to access those anyway.Who is this for?I’d say it’s perfect for an advanced DIYer or a mobile mechanic. For the most part, this scanner has you covered and outperforms Autel, Snap-On, and the new Icon line. With two years of updates included, it’s kind of a no-brainer.This tool can take your diagnostic skills to the next level and handle a lot of the heavy lifting, but it won’t do everything—you still need the knowledge to read charts, interpret data, and diagnose issues properly. Some bi-directional controls include:• Brake service mode• Oil light reset• Horn activation• A/C clutch activation• …and more.Final Rating: 4 out of 5If you’re on the fence, I’d say go for it—it’s a worthwhile investment.Update I just got a launch x431 apex 3 and the intelligent diagnostic worked with almost every car for 700 plus you pay for the v5 you would expect it to auto read vin.
