This product has been sold virtually unchanged for well over a century. It works. But you do have to understand what it is and how it works. White laundry that is dull and dingy may be physically dirty despite having been washed (some dirt can be difficult to get out), or it may be chemically stained. Your laundry has to be basically white to begin with for bluing to do any good. So what is this product? What is bluing? It’s a weak blue dye (weak once it’s diluted). But, shifting white very slightly to blue makes it look “brighter.” The human eye actually perceives a very slightly blue shade as whiter than white. I used this to darken blue jeans that had faded. I soaked jeans in a concentrated solution in a plastic bucket for about 2 hours. I used about 1/4 of bottle in cold water. Rinsed well and dried jeans. Jeans came out great with very deep blue tint.
