Great press
This is a great little press. This year is the year for apples. All my trees were loaded. After making applesauce, I decided to make cider and freeze it.Don’t think I’d want a taller one.Did have hubby make me 8 more blocksWorks great!!!!!Nice upper body workout.I bought the fruit chopper with it. That is the most tedious part of the job(cutting up apples)I’ve made 5 gallons and 3 stints.Gonna keep working my way through 10+ bushels of applesI found this easier to use than the hydraulic one I bought. Clean up is not bad. Bought and xtra bag

Sturdy product, easy to use
I thought it might be too small, too flimsy, too hard to use. But instead it was easy to assemble, easy to understand and easy to use. We quartered our apples, chopped them into a bucket and pressed out gallons of cider with no glitches. I didn’t have to someone stronger do any of the steps—help was nice, but I could do it solo. Totally exceeded my expectations.

Great but, Needs More Blocks.
This thing is great. We are on our third batch now. The only problem is, you get it full and then press it and it can press down to being half full. And the blocks don't support that height. It makes it really hard to turn it when you can't get the leverage of the pole.Which means we don't get as much juice as we could.Otherwise it holds up well. Make sure you follow instructions on putting it together. And get something to secure it too so it doesn't spin. We attached it to a thick piece of mlywood and then clamped the wood down onto our countertops.Very happy with it other than the blocks. Now I need to find some that will hold up and stay good safe.

Great little wine press!
This was my first year making wine and this little press worked great. The size is good and it made the process easy. The only thing I didn’t like was the assembly. Just a ton of screws to make the barrel. Not hard if you have a driver like I do, just a little time consuming. Easy though. I would recommend running a drill through the already existing holes. I had a couple almost split on me. Or just soak the boards in water first. It was worth the money.

Mixed opinion
It came ready to assemble, but the instructions were not clear, so took some trial and error. As is the case with items such as this, the factory-drilled pilot holes did not always line up with the screw holes in the metal rings. Once we started using it, we discovered that we needed to crush up a full peck of apples just to be able to use the press. Because it is tall and narrow, you need five or six gallons of apple mash in there just to get the pile high enough to clear the top for the crank. Because of that, you can never get enough pressure on the apple mash to get all the juice. I pulled probably another quart out of the mash bag after pulling it out of the press. Also, do not try to use this without bolting it to the floor or to a heavy workbench. When you get to about half-press, the force of turning the handle requires that the feet be anchored. Lastly, I had to cut myself some extra press boards out of 2x3 because the few that are included do not give you nearly enough elevation or pressure on the press plate. Cleanup was not too difficult - just hit it with a garden hose. However, you have to dry it off thoroughly with a chamois and wipe it down with a little bit of food-safe lubricant to avoid the threads on the center rod from rusting. I think if I were to be in the market for this type of thing again, I would look for one that has a much bigger diameter and a much shorter basket.

Decent 5 gallon fruit press
Just got it today and assembled, and pressed 16 gallons of cider from 5 bushels of apples. Everything worked ok, definitely packs in alot of apples, i pressed in about 2 to 3 bushels into one block. Just wish it came with more wooden blocks for the end of batch so i can keep pressing. Comes with about 6 to 8 blocks and have to hand crank the dial to press down passed the basket. But i can get more. I shoulda got the big press tho. Did not realize how small this one was

Terrible design, do not recommend
The design of the press is terrible. It’s so unstable and honestly poses a safety risk. First of all, it does not come with enough blocks to actually press anything…we had to find some wood and cut it up to make more blocks to even use this at all. Secondly, the metal pole does not attach it just kind of hangs in the hole so as you’re turning the pole to press, it constantly falls out which is a hazard. Third, the actual round center part that you put the apples in does not attach in any way so it just moves around in the base the whole time which makes everything so difficult to use. Giant waste of money, do not recommend buying this we used it once on 50 lbs of apples and I literally got one 32 oz Mason jar of cider. We used a friends press of a different brand on our remaining 25 lbs of apples and got five 32 oz Mason jars of cider. Half the apples, 5x the cider? Make that make sense. DO NOT BUY THIS PRESS it’s trash

Awesome for the price.
We’ve put 350+ pounds of apples and other fruit through this. Works great. Assembly is tedious but manageable. Use a hand driver to finish the screws to avoid splitting the wood as others talk about. Oil with mineral oil (food safe) before you assemble the slats to save time. We had no issues with splitting. We made a stand for our setup and I anchored the feet of the press. Great value. Use mineral oil on the bare metal threaded center part after it’s clean to avoid rust.

Works well
This press works fine, we pressed grapes and apples. I cut an extra piece of wood to fit inside at the bottom so the slatted cage doesn't move around. One iron bar is ok, but I used two more for ease of turning. You'll have to replace the mesh bag fairly soon, it's not robust. All in all for the money, it's a reasonable starter press. I'm pleased with it.

Good purchase
Really nice press and fun to use. Perfect for someone who has only one fruit tree and wants to use some excess fruit. Too small if you have a lot of fruit to process.

Seems ok so far
I just received the product and it seems ok. Quality a bit questionable as some metal pieces do have paint chipped off. It took about 20 minutes to put together using a drill gun and a Phillips bit. Wood pieces should be a bit thicker as you can feel the tip of the screw almost going through the wood.Wooden pieces are pre-drilled so screws go in easily. There is a top and bottom to each piece so keep that in mind.As long as the paint on the bottom white plate doesn’t chip I’ll be happy. I’ll update in few months to see how well it works as it should as there isn’t that much to it.Update: I wish the two half circle pressure plates were each about half inch bigger. At the moment you end up with about and inch gap at the top and as you’re pressing and fruit tends to push up through the gap. Not ideal so I’ll probably make a new plate. Otherwise it worked on two batches of tomatoes.

Very nice, compact, easy to store.
We had a couple buckets of concord grapes to press, and our regular press is large and difficult to use for small amounts. This did the trick. It was easy to assemble and fits nicely in a row along with similar sized 24-liter carboys. It cleans up beautifully. We did have to add several pieces of maple wood to reach the bottom. We were pleasantly surprised to see the white net insert. This helps a lot to keep the grapes from escaping at the sides and bottom. It was easy to rinse out and did not get stained.

This product is not useable as recieved.
Product all nice and shiny and well packed, that is what was packed. I have worked and managed factory assemblies and can't believe that this item was ever inspected for completeness. Did someone ever try to assemble this unit at the factory? Did someone ever read the instruction along with assembling this unit? Now that the bitching is over, lets see what my problem is: First I read the instructions which say the kit contains 12 cage slats. I go to the kit and find that there are 22 cage slats? I go to the metal ring that the slats are to be mounted on and I count how many slats are needed to complete the ring which comes to 25 slats? So why the miscount in the instructions and the miscount on what is actually needed to put this cage together? I gave you one star because it is forcing me to rate you a minimum of one star. I wound prefer to give no star. I have spent $170 dollars on something I cannot use. Unless you can send me another 3 slats in the next three or four days as I need to process my apples in the next few days.
