How did I live without it?
A couple of months ago, I bought an old Singer 96-40 (industrial sewing machine) on Ebay. It had the original Singer clutch motor. Love, love, love the machine -- but the clutch motors run continuously when the machine is turned on -- and they're very loud. Whenever I turned it on, I felt like I was opening an airport. No kidding! I'm also fairly sure that running it jacked up my electric bill about $35.00 in one month. Then I did a bit of research and found that these SERVO MOTORS were available. Mine switched out quite easily -- didn't even have to drill new holes in the industrial sewing machine table. It fit like a glove! Of course -- the table and the clutch motor were very heavy -- and so I needed the help of my daughter for some of the lifting. But I'm a 70-year-old granny -- and I did the actual installation myself! The motor makes no sound unless I'm actually sewing. What an improvement. How did I ever live without this? As far as the dial that's supposed to reduce the speed of the machine -- I'm not sure if mine is broken or if my machine is just too old to use the technology -- but it doesn't appear to have altered the speed of the machine that much. It could be me, I guess. And I wasn't necessarily interested in that slowing down thingie. For others -- like those sewing leather, for instance -- that might be an issue. For me -- I couldn't be happier.

Powerful and quiet motor
I converted my 3/4 horsepower 1940's Singer Industrial Sewing Machine Clutch Motor to this servo motor unit based on performance reviews when compared to similar motors offered by Consew and others. The Enduro build quality is lacking, for instance one brush holder screw was not seated properly and the belt guard was malformed. I was able to remove the cross threaded screw and reseat it without issue, the belt guard required some filing for belt clearance. Without proper instructions, trimming the belt guard clearance may be a normal step during installation?? There are no instructions for the accessories supplied with the motor discussed below either. The motor is quite powerful and extremely quiet when in operation. Speed settings are variable, controlled by a knob on the front side of the motor. It also has an accessory 120V outlet on the rear which is controlled by the power switch for the motor making adaption of the 80 year old desk lamp pain free. As others have said "the instructions are lacking" my biggest complaint. Replacing an existing unit is pretty much straight forward. To my surprise he box contained extra parts that included a set of motor brushes, a fuse, and a motor brake shoe.I hope that this motor holds up in the long run, if it doesn't I will be looking for a similar unit made in Taiwan. Very happy with my purchase so far.

You need this motor
Inherited my Grandfather’s industrial JUKI with a clutch motor and I could never control that speed the way grandpa could. I installed this motor along with a new belt, turned the speed down all the way and I can stitch 10 stitches a minute or 250 stitches a minute depending on pedal pressure. Also, it’s silent. Wish I bought it sooner than struggling with the original motor the machine came with for 2 years.

Nicely done
I’m using this on a non-sewing machine application, but it is nicely made and easy to work with.Do be aware it is a brushed motor, it comes with spares. Just in case you were looking at that other sewing machine motor that is brushless and forgot to check this one when you decided to buy it instead. Also, it is somewhat larger than I guessed from the pictures. Read the dimensions if that is important.

The "Go To" Server Motor
This review is for the 550 Watt. TBH - I am a little surprised at the quality of this motor. As far as I can tell there is nothing like it anywhere on Amazon. The manual resist RPM control knob "feels" nice and smooth. The cork brake is an awesome safety feature. The motor does not feel like a "toy" like other servo motors on Amazon, has some weight to it. Comes with a spare cork brake and brushes that I will probably never use unless I start a sewing business. Does not come with the foot pedal control arm so I just used the one I had. The RPM control knob works as maximum RPM set point in concert with the pedal position sensor so you can get really slow stitch speeds. I had to use a smaller belt approx 4inches went form a 42 to a 38inch belt. I also bought the 45mm pulley and can sew perfectly straight lines at ~2 stitches per second. Compare that to the "clutch motor of death" that I was replacing that would eat anything I put below the needle at 1600 stitches per second or more. Bottom line is this is a great little motor.
