Impressed!
Honest Review:It was easy to assemble, but it took a while to charge. This is my first time using it, and I have to say. I am impressed!! I used it for the first time while visiting Arkansas, and the bugs are outrageous there. After 15-20 minutes, I noticed no sign of flies, mosquitoes, or pesky gnats. So, I’ll give it 4 stars. I also like that you can travel with it. I plan on using this the whole summer. Hope it continues to hold up this well.PS. Refills (for 1) are around $18-$20.

These things really work
The promise: an electronic device that you can turn on to keep mosquitos away. The electronic part is a partial truth, as the electricity is just used as a source of heat, but it's an effective way of keeping mosquitos away.Thermacell devices, electronic or not, work by slowly releasing allethrin, an insect repellent. Low heat is used to make the repellent go into the air. Allethrin is mostly harmless to humans and pets, though it's recommended that you not ingest the repellent or use it near food. There is nearly no smell; the repellent itself is odorless, but the device sometimes releases a bit of smoke. The older fuel-based ones, which either use butane fuel or sit on top of an isobutane fuel canister, use felt mats to hold the repellent; you have to replace the mat after four hours of use. The electronic ones instead use a cartridge loaded with liquid repellent and a wick that slowly releases it; it can provide up to 40 hours of use from a single cartridge. The electric power is simply used to provide heat.Thermacell makes two versions of the electronic device. The more basic one has 6 hours of battery life. This is the upgraded one with a battery that lasts 9 hours, which is enough to keep the device powered for most day events. If you need more run time you can connect it to a USB power bank, or to an AC-powered charger if you're in a location where outlets are available. The cartridges are good for 12 or 40 hours of operation; the bigger ones will cover an entire weekend of camping if you connect it to a large enough power bank to keep it running that long. You have to supply your own charger; the Thermacell does not include one.The company says it will keep a 20 foot area clear. That's true on a reasonably calm day. Winds will carry the repellent away so the effective range is smaller on a windy day. If the winds are REALLY high you won't need to run it because the mosquitos won't be flying.Make sure not to lose or throw away the cap of the repellent cartridge unless you are certain you will use up the rest of its capacity in the current use session. You need to put it back on before you store the cartridge. I recommend keeping the cartridges, new or partially used, in a Zip-Loc bag to make sure you don't end up getting the repellent on other things; the cap is supposed to be enough, but belt and suspenders :)

So far this works very well
I have run this a few different ways, mostly on an elevated table but yesterday hooked it up the the umbrella while I gardened and was completely mosquito free in all areas! We do also have a pedego and I put one in there also. So one was in the middle of the property (umbrella by pool) one was on the far upper deck rt side of property and one was in the pedego (left side). No mosquitos at all and I live backed up to forest and wetlands. It was great, I did get a sting by some stupid horse fly while tending to the raised beds, but no mosquitos even all the way down into the orchard. It was great. I like to garden in my bikini, high boots, arm protectors/gloves but then when I get too hot from working I can pop into the pool to cool off. Helps a lot working in the heat and humidity down here tuff wearing long sleeves and pants for protection. Depends on what I am doing but I did that yesterday with this outside, bit of a wind so idk if that helped? I try to use mosquito repellants by all the doors also as we have two big dogs and a doggie dog. It seems to be helping in all areas, I have recharged it twice with no issues. I also purchased the refills. MUCH better and less expensive than spraying the property which does not really work here at all waste of money. I highly recommend this product. I am breathing easy using this when working and playing outside. Bye bye Benadryl.

Mosquitoes repellent
Didn’t receive a 12 hour repellant packet. Tore the box apart and was not found.I have the smaller version of what I have ordered and it is a good productI prefer over smokey candles or oil based products that can also smoke or you can spill the oil everywhere

Really works
I do a lot work in my vegetable garden, which, because I keep it well watered, is a haven for mosquitoes. Where we live, mosquitoes are always active- not just at dusk or dawn. If I go out for even 5 or 10 minutes I am covered with more bites than I can count. Even if I cover up, they find that one gap in my clothes and bite. When using this device I might get one or two bites, but more often I get none. What has really convinced me of it’s effectiveness is if I suddenly start getting bit while working it’s due to one of three things 1) the cartridge of repellent is empty, 2) the battery is low, or 3) I have moved too far from the device. The effect is immediate. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the length of time it takes to recharge the battery. I timed it at 9 hours. I am considering buying a second unit so that I can keep working outside as needed. I also noticed several other “issues” that make it less than perfect. You really need to let it warm up for 15 minutes before it becomes noticeably effective and I think 20 feet is very generous estimate of its range. Lastly, I think it attracts wasps, but only if you are doing something that would otherwise attract them (like watering when you’re under drought conditions or eating sweets or meats.Even if it’s not perfect, given the risks of mosquito bites, it’s a winner.
