The Trouble With Maps Is.....
The trouble with maps is that it is almost impossible to wander round a city , trying not to look like a tourist (as my travel book suggests), with a map that opens out to 52in by 29in. and with print so small that you can't read it even with reading glasses. Then you cannot fold the map up again. That's the situation this map will put me in when I visit Malaga.Of course, it shows all the roads and important places, with an index neatly listed in alphabetical order, in Spanish. It's just that the print is so small I need a magnifying glass to check anything. It's OK saying that something is in J11, but J11 contains a myriad of streets! I usually use a map to find one area relative to another, and think I've sussed it out, then get in a taxi which sets off in the opposite direction because maps don't always show one-way systems.Apart from that, it's an excellent map, showing all the main areas in Malaga city. And it's very reasonably priced. All my maps have got me lost, but I still keep them as souvenirs. They remind me of happy times wandering round interesting spots and meeting other people lost for exactly the same reason.Ps. I'm female - does that explain my problem with maps?
