SAS and Special Forces Self Defence (Mini Encyclopedias)

One of the better ones of these British SAS inspired titles on self defence. The other good one is the John Lofty Wiseman offering, which you can also get as a Gem guide style pocket manual. I recommend all three of these books in same basic subject matter. Crossover subject interest in military Survival and Evasion Escape skills.

No throwing 500kg fridges on pirates for Mr Wiseman - just everything you need for basic self-defence training, the Goldilocks Zone, not too little, not much.

For someone whom is less than keen to join a self defence class, who prefers to self teach this book has it all. Definately requires discipline to keep picking it up but an informative read every time when I do. If you like to organise your own schedule to learn self defence techniques this is a definite consideration to add to your library.

As someone who knows little about self defence, I found the book sincere, interesting, easy to read with a hands-on advice. I made adjustments to what items I have with me when outside and also practised some simple defence moves. I hope I will not have to use them, but I started feeling a bit more confident with regards to my ability to prevent or reduce harm arising in such situations. I am thankful to the author and people who helped him for taking the time to share this with others.

Liked the instructive nature of the manual on the subject of self defence. Written by an expert. Good graphics Good value for money.

Damn good book for all ages. 3 years to 300. That should include most.

I've read a lot of different 'self defence' type books offering differing advice. This book though contains sound practical advice, easy stuff to remember and execute if the time comes when you need to use it. Essential knowledge in a dangerous world!

Autant son livre aventure et survie est un must, autant son livre SAS and special forces self defence handbook est d'une indigence consternante. N'importe quelle ceinture noire de judo et/ou de karaté en sait beaucoup mais alors vraiment beaucoup plus que les quelques très vagues techniques bas de gamme qui y figurent. Sans nul doute l'auteur a voulu faire du fric en écrivant un bouquin totalement inutile. Donc ne gaspillez pas votre argent pour une pareille daube. Pour ma part il est parti direct à la poubelle avec les 17 euros dépensés pour rien.

As someone who is well into their senior years I have been a voracious reader and seeker of knowledge for more than 7 decades. One of my many interests has been the martial arts and self-defense (Judo, Jujitsu, Karate-Do, Boxing, wrestling, Krav Maga etc.) systems. This is why while browsing on Amazon when I saw this 160-page soft cover book (SAS and special forces self-defense: A complete guide to unarmed combat by John “Lofty” Wiseman) I decided to purchase it. I found this book to be a good basic guide to safety and self-defense; however, you should know that it is written from the European point of view where they do not have the same individual rights as we Americans have when it comes to guns and other weapons of self-defense. The illustrations are clear showing the techniques and even though I agree with most of the material shown in this book, some of the techniques are questionable without constant training to achieve competency; nevertheless, I did like the practical safety advice in this book.
