I live in Arizona so this thing really works to keep the outer rooms cooler using the ice packs and water vs just the AC alone. I blocked the side vents to force the incoming air through the back mesh. Lasts 4-12 hours without having to refill especially on low speed.

Beware those high reviews Do Not, could Not, live were it gets hoter than low 80s!!!!!!!!We got this one and bigger one April 11th. Once the tempature outside got above 85 these swamp coolers became ineffective! Plus, we live in the desert SW we're the humidity is 10% outside. This evaporative cooler, without the "cool" feature, is raising the humidity to 30%. Using "cool" raises the humidity to obnoxious levels within 1-2 hrs. Making it a glorified, very expensive fan!My husband reviewed this cooler extensively! Neither of us can understand How on Earth Anyone gave more than 2 stars for a review!Our roof is bad, our roof evaporative cooler is 22+ years old and poorly installed. We were looking for a cost effective way too cool our 2000 sf home. This and the other cooler were a costly, expensive mistake we can ill afford.Oh! And how unhealthy are the contents of the ice packs? They do not seal and contents have leaked into the water!

This swamp cooler does blow cool air with the ice paks but the fan is so weak it doesn’t cool more than a foot in front of it. I kept it bc I put my high velocity fan in front of it and it pushes the air further - maybe 6-10 feet. That’s the only way this really works to cool outdoors.I bought this for my screened catio- so my long- haired ragdoll cats can be comfortable out there. I also have misters around the outside the patio to cool surrounding air (I first tried the misters inside but everything got wet). And I have shades on the screens to further keep out the sun. Being I’m in Miami getting a decent comfort level in the catio is a challenge. Even with all this effort, it’s really only comfortable in the morning, late afternoons and evenings. or on cloudy or rainy days - so we get some enjoyment out of the patio. But better than at no time. Winter cannot come soon enough.

This unit arrived a few days early, that was a good surprise. I filled the ice containers up and put them in the freezer. A few hours later the ice were ready. The unit says it holds 5.3 gallons of water but mine barely allowed 4 gallons of water. To be added.. the issue I have is I find it hard to see the water level. My last one had a red ball that floated on top of the water which for me made it much easier to see the water level and know if it is getting low or not. I need help with this one due to clear water isn’t easy to locate the level in tank in the unit am finding this very
