Just The Tool I Needed To Begin Selling My Lifetime Coin Collection
The media could not be loaded. I have been collecting coins, off and on, for over 56 years and now, in my 70s, I know it is time to begin downsizing my collection. My vision is not what it once was, and eyeglasses plus lighted magnifying glasses no longer provide me with the ability to view my coins as I once could. I recently read a post in a coin forum about the Tomlov digital microscope to help with not only grading coins but also taking photos that will help potential coin buyers make a more informed buying decision. When the microscope arrived, I was a bit surprised how heavy it was. The main weight is the base which helps the unit from ever tipping over. I followed the detailed directions in the manual and although it was quite detailed, I went to the manufacturer's website and requested a PDF copy of the manual so I could enlarge the photos to assist me in completing the assembly.Although I am not a mechanically or technically oriented person, I was able to assemble the unit fairly quickly. There were a few things I found in the process, some of which I contacted the manufacturer customer service and had a reply within 24 hours. One of the questions I had was regarding black adjusting ring on the one arm and shown in the manual. The manufacturer advised me that the unit had a new design, and the ring was no longer required, and the next printing of the manual would reflect that change.Keeping in mind my non-mechanical/technical abilities, I will note for others similarly challenged that the sales page shows an SD card, but I could not find it among the parts in the box. I then looked at the back of the screen and found the SD card was already installed. They really should note on the sales page and in the manual that it is not listed as a separate part but is already installed.Another item for fellow non-mechanical/techies was something very small but not easy for me, with my poor vision, to see without my lighted magnifying glass was installing the light ring. The guide tells you where to place it, but it would be nice to know there are 3 indentations where the tightening screws should be placed or have them painted in some way show they are easier to find. The above, very minor, issues were more my personal lack of tech/mechanical abilities. Overall, I am extremely pleased with how the microscope allows you to dial in some of the best, closeup viewing of my coins that I have ever had. The coins that I have posted photos of are not the best I have coins I've collected, but they were the most accessible for me to try with the microscope. Although the coins I've posted photos of are not very valuable, they do have numismatic value and the photos are beyond anything I have ever been able to take with my camera. I also really like having a small remote like controller to take the photos and/or videos. As I use the microscope more, I am sure there will be even better photos that I can capture as there are many settings that I have not experimented with yet. I have also included some photos of stamps and an old 80-year-old watch along with a short video showing it still running.Overall, this digital microscope is the exact tool I need to assist me in getting the best views and photos of my lifelong coin collection and hopefully selling it for the maximum value possible. It is solidly constructed, easily maneuverable, the 10.1" monitor makes it super easy for even older folks with poor vision able to view whatever you need to get the best view possible. There are many features that make it a useful tool not only for coin collectors, but collectors of stamps, watches or anything that has small features that this microscope can help bring into much clearer focus.

New Upgrade, Excellent Microscope
I purchased this as an upgrade from a DM9. I loved Tomlov products so much that I bought a DM5 for my grandson. He took it to school and everybody loved it.On to the TM4K. It did not disappoint. It was easy to use out of the box with minimal setup. Some of the nicest features:- The flexible stand allows you to set your object in place and the have the flexibility to move the microscope around and not have to worry about centering the object- The extended post allows you to get close to the image (in my case coins) and then fine tune the view with the adjustable knob- The zoom-in is great to where I can see tiny imperfections in the coin, great for checking for errors.- There is an 8X digital zoom that allows you to zoom in even closer. This worked great by allowing me to basically put the lens right up to the coin and then zoom in closer- There are tons of options to adjust the image before taking the image (the default settings work great for me, but for others they have options)- This came with the 64gb memory card already installed- I was able to easily connect this to my monitor for an even better view of the coin. The HDMI cable is included in the box.- I didnt think I would use the included remote very much, but I discovered it works great when reviewing the image on the external monitorThe built in Ring light is great, but it does require an external power supply (110v). This also takes videos, but I haven't tested that feature yet.I will update the review later with actual images from the microscope.Another big bonus is the customer service from Tomlov. They typically reply to emails within 24-48 hours.

8X optical zoom "2000x magnification" is based on the size of the screen you view it on.
The media could not be loaded. ANYONE who is having problems with BLURY IMAGES, please read: This microscope has a long focus ring on it, this is the knurled section in-between the two metallic red bands. You must make sure not to tighten the screws that hold the microscope, or the accessory light, in between those red bands or you will never get a good focus.REAL optical zoom (not magnification) is only 8X which is then magnified by moving the camera closer to your subject. 2000x magnification is only achieved when viewing an 8x zoomed image on a very large computer monitor, for example viewing on my 4K 50" monitor gets about 2400x DIGITAL magnification. There's a short learning curve, which is fairly simple, though not directly intuitive... i.e. you can turn the microscope OFF with the remote, but it will only power on with the power button on the 10" monitor. You need the remote to take photos & videos as far as I can tell...It can be powered by external battery pack - I have a 30A fast charge battery pack and it seemed to have no problem being charged by the high amp battery pack. Once fully charged, I removed the charging cable, and have used the microscope for about 45 minutes with no indication of any issues.Pro's:Can focus farily well10" screen is bright and clear1/4x20 threaded tripod mountcomes with 64GB Micro SD card for transfer to external deviceHas HDMI output, and cord, to directly display on external monitor or TVcomes with 2 USB cablesBase seems to be pretty decent with plenty of surface space and weight.CON's:NOT a 2000x MicroscopeOnly 8X optical zoomFocus is softer than I would likeDifficult to put the Micro SD card in and to get it out

Great coin photos but the support arm needs to be longer.
I was looking for a digital microscope that would capture an entire coin rather than super close. This item does the job well except that for larger coins, like Morgan dollars and currency, the arm is not long enough to go up high enough for this purpose. I rigged an extension on the arm so that the camera could go higher and it worked well. I am now able to capture photos of any coin or currency I desire with GREAT clarity. I am very happy with this product!
