Great headset!

The Headset has been a game changer for my work-from-home setup! I was previously using the Corsair Virtuoso and it became rather heavy for 8+ hours of usage. The sound quality from the Yealink is crystal clear, both for listening and during calls, and the soft dual-ear design really helps for longer meetings. It's incredibly comfortable for all-day wear, and the wireless range is impressive, allowing me to move around freely without losing connection (oops!). Setup was easy, and the battery life is more than enough to last through long meetings.

Controls calls just as you'd expect, press the button to 'lift' the line, unlike the WH64. Good sound, I really love the boom mike mute function. The headset 'perch' seems a little delicate, I guess time will tell! So far its a DECT at a good price with good call control and a digital interface, a hard combination to find. The PC interface is a little crude... OK if that's your only audio device. I have music speakers but found that I could not switch off the WH62 without unplugging the USB.

I have a job that puts me on conference calls and video meetings a ton, probably 20+ hours a week, so I've spent a lot of time looking for the perfect headset. My criteria are: comfort, range, sound quality and ease of use. The benchmark for me is the Jabra Engage 75 (or 65 if you prefer a mono headset). It is super lightweight and comfortable, has insane range thanks to using DECT instead of bluetooth, sounds good enough to use for listening to music between meetings and has pretty intuitive controls. The only thing it's missing is that it doesn't mute itself when you flip up the mic boom. That one feature would make it absolutely perfect. The Engage 75 is also almost twice the price of this Yealink WH62, so...... The Yealink has a lot going for it. It's more portable than the Engage since it uses a small USB dongle instead of a bulky base. That dongle is still DECT though so you still get most of the extended range and better sound over bluetooth. I did find that the range was a little smaller than the Jabra, which I'm sure has to do with the smaller antenna they must be using in order to make the dongle a reasonable size. It comes with a nice travel case as well, clearly the focus for this headset is the mobile user. The Yealink also mutes when you flip up the mic boom (are you listening Jabra!?!) so that's a big win. So why only three stars? Most importantly, it uses a stupid proprietary magnetic charging cable that feels awfully flimsy for something intended to be used on the go. If this cable ever stops working, you're SOL. How hard is it to just put a USB C port on things, or use an internal Qi charging coil? There's plenty of room on the headset for either one. This just stinks of intentionally engineered failure. Second, the dongle REALLY doesn't like being plugged into USB 3.x ports. Many wireless devices have this problem, which is compounded by the fact that most laptops don't include any USB 2.0 ports anymore. The issue is that 3.x ports generate a lot more electromagnetic interference because of their higher speeds and DECT especially is very sensitive to this kind of EMI. The solution isn't difficult, just use a short USB extension cable (preferably a 2.0 cable) to move the dongle further from the port. The issue is Yealink doesn't include such an extension cable, which would cost them pennies compared to the several dollars you'll need to spend to buy one of your own. When I have the dongle plugged into my laptop, the connection to the headset keeps on dropping even when I've got it sitting right on my lap. When I connect it using a 1 foot extension cable, it starts working fine. As for comfort and sound quality, it does just as well as my Evolve 75. The pads might make my ears a little warmer than the Evolve because of their design but I wouldn't bother me at all if I didn't have anything to compare it to. Having said all that, if you plan on using this headset with a Yealink desk phone then you don't have nearly as many options and this is likely the best one in your case. My review is based on using the headset with a PC.
