100% worth the purchase!
I love this external hard drive; it’s like the OtterBox for storage devices. The protective bumper is ideal for college students who often toss things into their bags. I personally use it to save my graphic designs, and mine has never overheated. I haven't experienced any compatibility issues with either HP or Apple Computers.

Best external hard drive for Mac!
I mean, the price difference is crazy. They sell this on Apple’s website so I knew it would be good. I love the color, and it’s helped so much having 2TBs of space!

not reliable for me on Mac machines; REVISING MY REVIEW
I regret that my two year experience with this drive using Mac machines is not positive. I have not found it to be reliable. To recover files on the drive now...again...I must fire up an antique Chromebook, which sees my files so I can back them up elsewhere. It worries me and I'm not messing with this drive further.--Same issues on newer UnionSine drive. Drives mount one time but not the next...Disk Utility hangs trying to find it...workaround is to mount the drive on my ancient Chromebook...which sees the drives and files fine...then retry on Mac...usually this works but it is really weird...I see now it has to do with how I formatted these drives as exFAT as advised...both my Macs randomly spit it out and say yuck...nerve wracking as these are important back up drives...honestly WTH why are we still having drive compatibility crap like this? So apologies LaCie it does not seem to be your fault...

A great little external drive for backing up the laptop; small but mighty.
this was recommended to me by a friend who retired from a career in computer science. It is fantastic. very easy to use, I didn't need to go through the whole process and registration. Just plug and go; the directions for setting up various plans for back up are right on the screen and I've put the icon on the task bar. It has more than enough capacity for the typical computer user and has backed up my whole laptop. I have it on continous back up. Am very pleased with this.

Stylish, Durable, and Reliable – Just Know Your Ports and Formats
I really like these LaCie rugged hard drives. The design is solid, the rubber bumper feels protective, and it’s quick when transferring files. I’ve been using mine mainly for backups and archiving, and I already plan to buy more. While it’s not the most portable external drive on the market, it’s still small enough for my needs. I take it in my backpack while traveling and it holds up great. The rugged design isn’t just for looks it’s functional. One thing I wish is that it had a USB-C port on the drive itself. The cable included has USB-C on one end, but the actual port on the drive is Micro-B USB 3.0. It works fine, but I don’t love the wide connector design, and it doesn’t feel as durable or modern as USB-C. Hopefully newer versions fix this.In terms of compatibility, I did run into an issue when using the default format. I initially had it set to ExFAT for cross-platform use, but on my MacBook it caused a frustrating issue where the drive would not eject properly it would stay stuck in the “ejecting” state forever. Once I reformatted it to a Mac-native format (APFS in my case), the problem disappeared completely. So just a heads-up for Mac users: reformat the drive to avoid this problem. As for data loss, I’ve had zero issues. I’ve done heavy backups and constant use without a single corrupted file or problem. On heat, it runs surprisingly cool. Even after transferring large amounts of data, it only gets slightly warm—nothing unusual or concerning.Lastly, I love how this drive looks. The classic LaCie orange bumper gives it character, and it fits perfectly with the clean, modern setup I’m going for.Overall, it’s a great external drive for people who want a balance of performance, durability, and style. Just keep in mind the older port design and formatting needs, depending on your system

It’s amazing that this has such great storage for such a small device. I love it.!!
I purchased this Lacie 2 TB SSD external hard drive to back up my Apple computer using Time Machine! It was so fast and so easy to create the back up I’m thrilled with that. I wish there was an 8 TB SSD hard drive just like it —they’re hard to find!
