Helped my mood and my 90-year-old father to get off antidepressants!
I stumbled upon this wonderful product and so glad I did! I have the C677T MTHFR mutation, as well as a COMT mutation. MTHFR converts B-12 and Folate (and other vitamins) to the active/methylated forms that can be used by the body and cross the blood brain barrier. Because I have both MTHFR and COMT mutations, it is best that I take B12 in the form of Adenosylcobalamin (along with Methylcobalamin), which this product has. I was taking Thorne Methyl Guard Plus, which has a higher potency of Methylfolate and B12 Methylcobalamin (and no Adenosylcobalamin), but noticed it made me a little irritable, edgy. So after watching a presentation by Dr. Ben Lynch (MTHFR.net) – a leader in MTHFR research - I learned that B12 Adenosylcobalamin can help reduce irritability, anger, etc. that those with COMT mutations can have when they take too much methylfolate. This supplement has helped “take the edge off” (pun intended). This particular supplement formulation seems to work for me, my son and my father. I have noticed increased energy and mood stability and less irritability in all of us. And, as for my 90-year-old father, he was on antidepressants for 10 years (as well as on and off of them for the prior 55 years). 2014 blood work showed B12 deficiency, so he started B12 (cyanocobalamin) shots, but saw no improvement, and his antidepressants were gradually increased. In October 2015, his blood work showed he was in range for B12 and folate, but his homocysteine level was high. Because of the research I had done on MTHFR, I knew right away that my dad had an MTHFR mutation, because (1) when blood homocysteine is elevated while B12 and Folate are in the normal range, that indicates the body is not properly converting folic acid to methylated folate and B12 (cyanocobalamin-synthetic form) to methylated B12 (active forms used by the body); (2) I had to get my MTHFR mutation from a parent. The form of B12 in the shots my dad was taking monthly is cyanocobalamin, which is synthetic and cheap and requires properly working MTHFR for conversion. So keep in mind that B12 and folate levels in blood work alone is not an accurate indicator of whether or not the body is actually converting to active forms required for the body to utilize. The addition of a homocysteine test is more revealing. Since my dad started taking Thorne B Complex #12, he is completely off of antidepressants and doing well! His doctors are intrigued and impressed. I gave them the information and hope they will use it to help other patients. Every person is different. It is best to start with lower potency supplements and work your way up to prevent reactions (in my case, reaction to too much methylfolate). Dr. Ben Lynch has two MTHFR mutations himself, so he has a personal interest in this field. MTHFR.net is a FABULOUS resource for those struggling with MTHFR mutations, or those who want to find out if they have such mutations. It is now believed that at least 50% of the population has some MTHFR variant (SNPs), which can cause a host of problems, including fibromyalgia, miscarriages, severe depression, autism and much more. While there is typically not one “smoking gun” that causes all our ailments, I believe MTHFR is a good place to start. MTHFR.net can tell you which tests to have and where to get them. I hope this helps someone!

Thorne B#12 is the best and covers all the right B’s we need
I don’t care how good or what you eat, your not getting on a daily basis All of the B vitamins at this dose it is almost impossible. Just because you see a bottle that says B complex it does not mean it has the right ones or the right doses. This formula, this Thorne #12 is all you need. You take this you do not need the #6. They covered the main ones and the right dose. You should all take the time to know what each one these do and why they are crucial for us. If you don’t think you need to? Just look up what a lack of these B vitamins and the symptoms and problems they cause from mood, to anxiety to energy. This one is the Only one I take. Do yourself a favor and take it. Then look into Omega 3 Dha And Epa, then aminos, iron, zinc, magnesium. Once you get all that and you are taking them daily. You will understand why most people are depressed, anxious, moody and are tired all the time. Do not get another brand because it is cheaper. Thorne makes great stuff. Their D3 is awesome too. I am guilty of thinking I was getting enough at one point too. Now its a habit and my overall energy, mood and life is better. You want to do good in life, you must feel good. Once you know why we need this, you got to ask yourself. Why are my doctors not telling us to take this? We all are led to think, if it is not an RX, it couldn’t work.

More energy - what would you do with it?
Update 7/22/16: I've been taking one capsule daily for nearly 2 months now. My energy level has increased dramatically and i feel better overall. While my energy levels aren't what they were before RA and hypothyroidism, I'm fairly certain nothing would do that. Still, i feel like I've been cut loose from a 200lb anchor I've been dragging around. Seriously, it's pretty great! And I do tire out, but i don't feel like I'm on empty before I get started. I've been taking b vitamin supplements for over a decade now. I first began on recommendation of a doctor, that many women don't get enough b vitamins. I bought whatever b-complex was on sale. In the past 6 years, i've had a number of chronic health problems crop up, including GI dysfunction and the autoimmune disease rheumatoid arthritis. I have become intolerant to dairy and gluten, and due to gastroparesis and not having a gallbladder, I cannot digest meat. Eating a gluten-free and vegan diet has helped my GI issues substantially. However, b-vitamins are hard to come by. Due to my illnesses, I battle extreme fatigue daily. It's probably the hardest part of dealing with chronic illness as a young adult. While i'm doing all I can for my RA and hypothyroidism, I wanted to be sure that I was taking the best b supplement for my body. It's been several years since I've bought vitamins or supplements at a drugstore. I've used Dr's Best and most recently, Jarrow. Both are high quality b-vitamin supplements - I felt a difference in energy level when taking them. However, this Thorne's b-supplement blows them away! I love that there are no fillers, especially magnesium sterate. I really love that there are different b-complexes, depending on your needs. All contain the most active and absorbable forms of b-vitamins and folate in veggie caps with no fillers. Yes, you will pay more for Throne Research products, but you are paying for quality and purity.

Thorne B-Complex #12 has been a total game-changer for my energy levels. It’s like a secret weapon for those dragging afternoons—I feel more focused and less like I need a caffeine IV to get through the day. The active forms of B12 and folate make a big difference, especially if your body struggles to process the synthetic versions found in other supplements. I also love that it’s gentle on the stomach. I’ve taken it on an empty stomach without any issues, which is rare for a B-complex. The capsules are small and easy to swallow, and there’s no weird aftertaste or bright yellow “B-vitamin pee” (if you know, you know). The only downside is the price—it’s on the premium side, but with Thorne’s reputation for quality and clean ingredients, it’s worth it. Plus, with only one capsule a day, the bottle lasts longer than you’d think. If you’re looking for a high-quality B-complex that boosts energy, supports mood, and doesn’t mess with your stomach, this is it. 4.8/5

I always suffered with the Bs. I'm pushing 60 and really needed them. I did an allithiamine (B1) routine for a few months then tried this one and I could take it -- daily -- with no gut issues or misery. I really like the Thorne brand. They have a few different B complexes and only this one agrees with me.
